Beautiful . Must try . A full family experience if you want to get to know a bit more about the culture.
The tea ceremony was elegant and informative. The hostess was an expert in Japanese tradition and very patient. The business also allowed us to leave with the kimonos to take pictures.
One of my favorite experiences in Japan! My husband and I loved getting dressed in kimonos and learning the history behind a traditional tea ceremony! We also had wonderful matcha that you learn how to make yourself and a few treats.
A unique experience. Informative and interesting. Our hostess was very engaging and conducted the ceremony with aplomb
I smiled from the moment I stepped in the door. I was made to feel very special. The experience was very informative and relaxed. I loved every minute!
We were unsure at the beginning, as these experiences may sound like too touristy. But we don't regret it at all! Mrs Suzuki (4 children 4 husbands 😊) was incredible. So entertaining. Amd she answered all our questions. Minutes flew by, and we enjoyed every single moment. They also let us keep the kimonos after the ceremony, to take pictures outside, at the nearby shrine. Unforgettable afternoon. Ichi-go ichi-e... Thank you for the memories of a lifetime!
So worth the money paid! Love the entire experience.. huge selection of kimonos to choose from and they dress you up and do your hair so beautifully and the tea ceremony in itself was so nice, she explained the significance behind every step so well, cool experience.
With all there is to see and do in Japan, THIS was a highlight of my trip! The experience offered the childlike fun of getting dressed up in a traditional kimono and hairpiece (complete with souvenir socks!) to a serene opportunity to learn and participate in a truly unique Japanese custom. Also, while booking, I had asked about the sweets included in the ceremony due to a food allergy, and the company even sent an ingredient list so I could confirm their safety. On my next trip to Japan, I definitely plan to visit Maikoya's other locations in Tokyo and Kyoto since, as the company points out "it's the experiences—not the possessions—that stay with us, shaping our understanding of the world".
Great experience, my 13 year old really enjoyed it! Learned about the tea ceremony history , where the tradition came from and made delicious matcha. Beautiful pictures in kimono too
What an amazing experience!! From start to finish! Loved getting dressed in a Kimono and the help from the ladies. Very authentic and the tea ceremony was peaceful and insightful. AI was a terrific guide into the experience! Also, is cool that can walk around after the ceremony and take pictures! I highly recommend this!
