Everything was as advertised. Our guide was knowledgeable, fluent in English and delightful! Very educational and illuminating.
We were fortunate to take the tour of the Academy Gallery with Hilaria, and it was one of the best experiences of the trip. From the very first moment, his genuine passion for the art and history of Florence is evident. He not only explains the works — he brings them to life. In front of Michelangelo's David, his account was so detailed and emotional that it completely changes the way you see it. Hilaria has an impressive command of the subject and a special ability to connect with the group. At no point did we feel like we were on a massive tour. He made us feel accompanied and in very good hands. His Spanish is perfect and his pace is ideal — neither rushed nor slow. Each explanation has just the right amount of time. If you visit Florence and want to truly understand what you are seeing, look for Hilaria. It is worth every euro and every minute.
I had a great experience with Towns of Italy and my tour guide, Francesca. I visited both Accademia and Uffizi galleries in the same day. She was great sharing information throughout the tour and answering the questions I had. I don't think there was a single thing I asked she didn't know. My Uffizi tour included the Vasari Corridor. Towns of Italy was very communicative from the time I booked until the tour started. I always felt comfortable I knew what was going on. We were able to enter Accademia with only a five minute wait and got into Uffizi right away. Both galleries seemed very busy to me. People were mostly looking at each piece for a few minutes and moving on, so it wasn't too difficult to get an up close view of something or take a photo. The exception to that was the Tribuna in Uffizi. There was a queue, and we didn't wait to see it. People did spend a long time around David in Accademia, but it's a big space so it didn't seem a problem. The Accademia tour lasted about an hour and a half, then I was free to stay and look at anything I wanted on my own before I left. The Uffizi tour lasted two hours and then about 30 minutes in the Vasari Corridor. I couldn't go back after the tour and see things in Uffizi if I wanted. Keep that in mind if you want so spend more time on your own beyond the tour in Uffizi. We were a little rushed in Uffizi at the end to make our reserved time for the Vasari Corridor. We saw everything -- but just barely and quickly at the end. If you want to spend a lot of time at Uffizi, don't do the Vasari Corridor. The Corridor was neat, but it's not a must if you're there for the art. This private tour was good for me because I'm not really into art. I need someone to explain it to me. Francesca pointed out interesting things about each piece and explained the history of it. She also connected stories about multiple pieces throughout the tours. She touched on most everything while focusing on the key pieces. I would have been overwhelmed in Uffizi without her. The timing also worked out for me. I would have gotten bored looking at everything, and I don't know the key pieces to focus on. I also only had one day in Florence. I attended during a June heat wave in Italy -- it was 38deg C. Accademia was cool inside during my morning visit. Uffizi was quite warm during my afternoon visit. There was some air conditioning, but it wasn't strong. Also, we had to walk up 126 steps to the first gallery and begin the tour. I was quite hot and sweaty by the time we reached the top. There is an elevator, but the queue was quite long. It was a good experience, and I'm glad I did both tours.
Very well explained by our guide. The David by Michelangelo is spectacular.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and personable. We understood her even though it was extremely busy and some teenagers were noisy with their outbursts. I enjoyed listening to her great details of David and all the other marble carvings.
Great experience very knowledge
Fabio made an overcast day bright with his knowledge of Florence history. Short bit of riding on cruiser bikes.
Sandra, the guide, has been fantastic, with very comprehensive explanations!!
