We loved our tour. Our guide, Richard, was great! He knew what he was doing, and we felt at ease the entire journey. He gave us a lot of information about the area and what we were seeing out on the water. We spotted many dolphins and got up close with the seals and sea lions. Unfortunately, due to the overcast evening, we didn't get a good sunset, but the view was still beautiful and well worth heading out. The entire experience was so relaxing and made for the perfect start to our vacation in San Diego. We would highly recommend this tour.
Small group was nice. The captain even let me steer the boat! What a great time we had! I highly recommend this tour. Well worth the money!
Dave was a great captain. He listened to us. He had a great experience. He has great taste of music and he was very hospitable.
Great sailing experience. Our captain was a great story teller and had so much information of the Bay Area and sea life. Only suggestion would be for more varieties of snacks.
This was such a highlight of our San Diego trip! The sail boat was so lovely, with so much space in the cabin for snacks, drinks and using the on board bathroom. Our captain Greg was such a delight with our group of ladies on a friends get away! Sunset was perfect and we had so much fun and also saw great sites from the water! Cannot recommend enough, will do this again next time I’m in San Diego.
We had an amazing time on the sunset sail! Captain Rick was so knowledgeable and friendly, making our first experience on a sailboat a memorable one. Would highly recommend!
Pack a jacket! I don't care how hot you think you are, that ocean is an automatic fifteen-degree dip and there is almost never not a wind. Also wear grippy shoes without a slick sole, or be prepared to just kick them off and walk barefoot. The trip itself was really great. It's very quiet once out on the water, and the captain was a font of fun trivia, pointing out landmarks on both the naval base and the cityside and telling neat stories about all of them. Whether we had questions about San Diego, sailing, or the navy, he just about all the answers. Three hours is a long time for just sitting on the water, yes, but just enjoying the sounds of the wind and water forces relaxation upon you. Sailing is like yoga, but with more ropes and pulleys. Definitely a tonic for the soul.
A highlight of our time in San Diego! Captain Dave was a great host. He made everyone feel comfortable on the boat, and had lots of interesting stories and information to share about the area. We saw seals and dolphins, submarines and aircraft from the Naval Base, and a beautiful sunset view of downtown. It was great to be out in the water with a small group instead of one of the big tour boats, and there are plenty of options nearby for dinner afterwards which is convenient. Would definitely sail again!
Was a great experience, sailboat was big and roomy and clean. Reese the captain was awesome!! Very knowledgeable and a great tour guide
We went on the sunset sail. It was fun on the water. We got back safe. The people who confirmed our tour and checked us in were lovely. As we were leaving the dock, our captain explained it was not a guided tour but it was ok to ask questions. Fairly early on after watching him wind the lines (ropes?) on alternating sides of the boat I asked what the lines did. The captain informed me that we were not having sailing lessons, that it was a sunset cruise and that it takes years to learn the sailing vocabulary. Duly noted. Once I had been resoundly put in my place everything was fine. I wasn't asking for lessons. I was just curious: do they control the sail? The rudder? Some other unknown thing? He could have given me the most basic answer or even lied. I never would have known. I wasn't thinking I would learn to sail. It definitely affected how I experienced the trip and I was very careful about asking questions for the rest of the journey.
Thank you for taking the time to share this. I want to be very clear, what you experienced is not acceptable, and we are genuinely upset to hear that a member of our team made you feel dismissed. We are a hospitality driven business first and foremost. While sailing is what we do, how we make people feel is what defines us. I have addressed this internally, and this is not reflective of the standards we expect from our captains or the experience we aim to provide every guest. Reviews like this are taken seriously because they point to a breakdown in what we stand for. I do appreciate you acknowledging the rest of your experience and our team on the dock. If you’re open to it, I’d value the opportunity to speak with you directly and make this right.
