It was delightful! From meeting our chef Anna, to shopping and tasting at Bolhāo market, to the actual preparation of the meal, it was fully enjoyable. Different cooking experiences were accommodated, and our group of five all felt included. We had such fun with the wine dispenser, and of course, the meal was delicious! Highly recommend!!

Special day of cooking and exploring the Porto food market.
A truly magical day for us and our adult children. The tour started with a trip to the Mercado to see the market. Ana was our chef that guided us and gave us a behind the scenes look at this popular market. We met sellers of olive oil, spices, jams and a wonderful family owned knife maker. We had sample tastings and learned about different fish and spices. Ana collected some clams and chorizo for the cooking class and after about an hour we took a ten minute walk to a small boutique hotel on a quiet street. It had a beautiful kitchen and courtyard. We spent the rest of the afternoon learning to prepare multiple Portuguese dishes. This was such a fun interactive way to spend time together and we learned so much too. Then we got to sit down and enjoy a beautiful meal together. This was not a basic meal, it ended up being one of our favorites on our trip. Ana was so friendly and engaging and was a professional chef so knew so much that she easily taught us. It definitely did not feel like a class but more like you went to a friend’s home to enjoy cooking together. We would definitely recommend this tour if you want a different way to learn about and enjoy Portuguese cuisine in Porto!

Best cooking class ever!
Ana was amazing! We are big cooks at home and she not only planned our meals based on the fact we are pescatarian, but also showed us lots of new tips and tricks for preparing the food. We had a wonderful time both shopping and cooking and will definitely make the recipes again.

Fantastic experience!
This tour and cooking class was the perfect way to spend a rainy day in Porto. It began with a tour of the Bolhao Market with tastings of oysters, chocolate, olive oil, and The smelling of spices. Some of the sausage we used in our cooking class was purchased directly from the market. Our guide and cooking teacher, Rita, was excellent. After we did the market tour, we went to a small kitchen and a boutique hotel, and made a five course meal that included octopus salad, cod, croquettes, smoked sausage, steamed clams, tempe string beans, and a delicious custard dessert. Rita was so patient and kind, letting us do every step ourselves. Then we sat down to The meal we made and had delicious wine. It was a wonderful day. Thanks to Rita and this great program to teach Portuguese cuisine.
