1999 年、ロベン島はユネスコの世界遺産に登録されました。ロベン島は南アフリカのケープタウンの沖合 12 キロに位置しています。何十年もの間、アパルトヘイト体制下では民主主義の父ら政治犯が収監されていた厳重警備の刑務所がありました。
1913 年 5 月、政府はキルステンボッシュに国立植物園を設立するためにキルステンボッシュ州の資金を確保し、1000 オペラ・アヌンを寄付することに同意しました。植物学協会は 1913 年 6 月 10 日に設立され、1913 年 7 月 31 日に総会を開催しました。
1685 年、毎年この岬を訪れていたドラケンシュタインのヘンドリック・アドリアン・ファン・レーデは、喜望峰の初代総督サイモン・ファン・デル・ステルに、コンスタンシア大島の土地を寄贈しました。ファン・デル・ステルは邸宅を建て、その土地でワインやその他の果樹の栽培や牧畜を行いました。
