I visited with my Russian mother, who doesn’t speak English, and was amazed at how easily she was able to join in and enjoy the experience. Language didn’t matter: smiles, scents, and hands-on creativity said it all. With a wide variety of fragrances, containers, and personal touches to choose from, the process feels deeply personal and truly special. My mom was so happy, and it was the best gift for me! This place is amazing. They walked thru everything with tips and suggestion along the way. We went for my daughter's birthday with a group of 8. They even were able to accommodate a time we were all able to go. The smell inside the shop is not overpowering, in fact it is a very clean enjoyable aroma. I would definitely recommend Embers & Apothecary to locals and tourist! One of Chicago's hidden gems.

My boyfriend and I went with a group of friends. So much fun! Making the candle was a great experience with the team helping us along the way. The scents are fabulous. You get to personalize your favorite scents. The place is beautiful, clean, and fun! Perfect date night.

I went on a quiet afternoon with my 8-year-old daughter. We had a blast going through all the individual fragrances, selecting our favorites, and then creating our unique blends for our candles. It was an enjoyable experience, the candles smell fantastic, and look lovely. The owner and her staff are friendly and great with kids. And the space is a beautiful, calming oasis in the Printers Row neighborhood. If I still lived in the area, I'd come back to Embers + Apothecary for a birthday party or pre-bridal event. Honestly, if I lived in the area, I'd probably make regular trips to create candles with unique fragrance profiles you can't find in the stores. On this trip, I made a blend that combined a woodsy, smokey base with fresh ground coffee and a hint of sweet pear. My daughter opted for a delicate and sweet blend in a sparkly rainbow container. There's something for everyone. Go check them out!

This candle experience was so incredibly awesome. I had never made a candle before in my life, although I love buying, burning and manipulating the wax of candles, this was a different level. From the scent experience to the vessel choosing to the preparation and knowledge they shared about creating the right fit candle down to pouring the wax, I felt empowered, clear and had so much fun in every step of the process. The effect of community is evident and the space is clean, modern and beautiful. There was something very inviting about the staff and I felt very comfortable exploring and figuring out exactly what I wanted my candle to be. So much so I went back and made more 🤣 I highly recommend this place and plan to throw my daughter's 10th birthday at the space, it's that much fun and I look forward to how the kids will experience this activity. I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed it 🤗🤗

Visited this charming candle making shop with friends and had a fantastic time! The space is beautifully designed, offering a wide variety of well-organized scents. You have the choice to mix scents, which really gives you a good opportunity to make something unique and to your liking. The quality of candle vessels is top-notch too! The staff was incredibly friendly, and provide clear and simple direction. They helped where necessary but weren’t intrusive to time with my friends. Additionally, the staff was very knowledgeable about candle care. They also offer a variety of experiences to fill the time while your candle cools, which adds to the fun. A perfect spot for a fun outing with friends!

What a neighborhood gem! The space is stunningggg - no detail was missed! I've been here twice and each time is an experience to remember. E&A has a wide variety of scents to choose from and they walk you through each step of the candle making process. Also there is a candle vessel for every mood, which I love! I left more knowledgeable about candles, but also I was so geeked to have such a useful souvenir from Chicago. This is a great activity for groups or even going solo! The staff is incredibly friendly! Check it out!
