We thoroughly enjoyed our tour our guide. ALPHONSO was terrific and has a huge knowledge and enthusiasm for the area. We loved etna and feared the gorge might be a bit of a let down, but it certainly wasnt . A great end to a great day .. we can absolutely recommend this tour..

Fantastic tour. Our guide Jessica was very well informed about the history of the cave and Mt Etna. She clearly has a passion for nature and provided interesting insights regarding the flora and fauna. The hike up Mt Etna was moderate with some uneven paths through the lava fields. Most of the trail was well maintained paths that were easy to navigate. We had a crystal clear day and the views were spectacular. The gorge was also very scenic. The river is cool with a rocky bottom so protective footwear is recommended for wading. Great day overall.

We did mount Etna gorges, hike and caves. It was a fabulous day with our guide Vito. We were on a cruise and he picked up/dropped off on time. Very informative and interesting. Full of knowledge. Provided boots for those who needed them. Lunch stop was great and had gluten free options available. Comms were easy beforehand and the Sicily active team very responsive on email and WhatsApp. Great experience, highly recommend.

Pick up was made very comfortable. Daily plan was re-scheduled according to weather - that helped a lot actually! Guide was 10 out of 10, felt like I went for a hike with my friend.

I had a wonderful and very memorable experience hiking Etna with Sicily Active. I had originally hoped to do the longer hike, and although plans changed a couple of times depending on group size, Sicily Active was always very transparent and kept me well informed. On the day itself, our guide Vito suggested that, if everyone was comfortable, we could attempt the longer route after all, and the whole group enthusiastically agreed. The hike itself was beautiful, with surprisingly pleasant weather and quite a bit of shade. We started around 1,700 metres and ultimately reached about 2,100 metres. We had the option of continuing toward 2,400 metres, but it became clear that this would be too much for some members of the group, so we stopped there. What made the experience particularly special was Vito. One older woman in our group found parts of the hike challenging, and he was extraordinarily patient and supportive. He would go ahead to inspect the trail and find safer or easier alternatives, then return to help her through steep or slippery sections. On the descent, he was practically her walking stick. At the same time, he kept the whole group engaged, laughing and learning. The group itself was wonderful too. Nobody was impatient about moving more slowly; everyone genuinely cheered her on. When she reached our highest point, Vito suggested that we all give her a hug to celebrate. It was such a wholesome moment and perfectly captured the camaraderie that had developed during the day. Vito also explained Etna’s geology, lava and volcanic activity, showed us photos from recent eruptions, and shared what it was like to witness them himself. Everything, from rest stops to practical advice, was communicated clearly. I also highly recommend renting hiking shoes from Sicily Active. Some sections are covered in loose volcanic gravel and can be very slippery, and the shoes also saved mine from being completely covered in black volcanic dust. I had originally hoped to climb higher, but in the end that hardly mattered. I got beautiful views of Etna, a fantastic hike, and an unexpectedly warm and memorable group experience. A huge thank you to Vito and Sicily Active, I’ll remember this day for a long time.

The Etna Trekking was excellent from start to finish. Our guide, Carmelo, was very knowledgeable and shared interesting information as well as ensuring a pace that suited everyone in our small group. The chalet lunch was very tasty and such a nice spot to take a break. Thank you to Sicily Active and Carmelo for such a memorable experience! Highly recommend.

We spent a wonderful day on Mount Etna and everything went perfectly. The pick-up and drop-off service directly in the van was a unique convenience, allowing us to enjoy the experience without any worries. ​Special praise to our two guides, Vito and Giampiero/Gianpaolo: very good, prepared and able to transmit all their passion for the territory. The itinerary was very rich: we climbed up to 2,000 meters above sea level, we explored a fascinating lava flow cave and, to top it off, we visited the beautiful Alcantara Gorges. ​Highly recommended excursion to anyone who wants to experience the magic of Etna in total relaxation and safety!

A fantastic trip with Vito to see the Alcantara Gorge followed by Mt Etna’s lava fields and cave. Vito was really friendly and very knowledgeable about the history and geology of the volcano. Pickup and drop off at the cruise port in Messina was very efficient
