Overall, this was a great way to travel to Santa Marta. We had a terrific English-Speaking guide (Adrian) on the bus who was super helpful and accomodating to us as the only 2 English speaking passengers. We only took the bus to Santa Marta and did not travel back with the others, but the drive there was uneventful with a few short photo stops along the way. The walking tour was short (40 min.) (and not in English). The lunch was an excellent traditional meal and the beach visited was lovely. It was great value and an excellent way to see an authentic snapshot of how many Colombians live outside of touristy areas, which we feel is important for developing an authentic travel experience.

Excellent experience, everything impeccable
Excellent service from start to finish. The organization, punctuality, and attention were a 10. I traveled solo and felt very safe and well accompanied at all times. I enjoyed Barranquilla and Santa Marta very much. Highly recommended, I would return without hesitation.

Miserable Tour
The experience was miserable. There was no prior communication from the trip provider so we were were unaware the pickup was at 4:30 not 4 am as previously stated. There was an unfortunate accident with the tour bus- not there fault. I was hit in the head with a stone and my husband had glass on him. Passengers were covered in glass. Not at anytime were we asked if we were okay. The passengers were left to help each other out. Luckily no one was terribly hurt by the flying glass when the side window was broken. We paid for a tour that was in English- the tour guide did not speak English and neither did the driver. We were left on the entire tour not understanding any of what we were seeing. The tour’s response was to show us a phone to read what we were seeing. I could have stayed in my air conditioned hotel room and looked at pictures and read. Luckily there were some passengers who spoke some English and told us when there was a bathroom stop and what was generally going on. The bus was hot and crowded. The drive back was 4 hours with NO restroom stop. It was easily the worse tour experience of all in our traveling. A complete waste of our money and most of all a vacation day. Beyond disappointing.

No English guide provided
I booked this tour and specified the need for an English guide. I was contacted prior to the tour regarding the place to meet and the time. I arrived and was shown to the bus. After we began I noticed that no English was spoken. At my first opportunity I asked the guide if they would be providing any English guidance and was told that the English guide was ill. Later this was changed to the excuse that they did not know English was requested. As this is a 12 to 16 hour tour and we were well on our way to Baranquilla, I went through the entire tour not understanding what was being said. I don't understand why tours are being advertised as having an English guide then none is provided. I suggest if you take this tour you get an assurance before you get on the bus that your language is being provided.

Unpleasant Long Trip
This tour had good references, unfortunately the day we had the trip was very different than what we expected, timing, places were visited in a hurry if visited,,,, Doesn’t make sense long trip without enjoying the Santa Marta Beach.

Long trip
It's a long day, but that is advertised. Santa Marta was the highlight. Lunch was great and very large.

One Time and Done - Friendly tour guide was the best of the experience
It was ok, you have a few quick stops to take pictures then a 40 min walk through Santa Marta's downtown (El Centro) and then they take you to a hotel nearby a beach were you have lunch and 2 hours of free time. We went to the beach and immediately walked back to the hotel to stay at the pool. Our tour guide was funny and informative, he was definitely the best part of the tour! That drive back to Cartagena felt like an eternity but the A/C was cold and we were tired so we ended up napping through a good portion of it. Will we do it again? Probably not, but I would recommend it if you want to visit more cities in Colombia during your stay in Cartagena. On a side note: they picked us up and drop us off right at our hotel which was super convenient. BUT, we were told to be ready by 4:20am and they arrived at 5:10am. They did apologize for the delay and explained that they had to replace one of the tires of the bus but based on previous reviews I am wondering if this really what happened.

Long but worthwhile day
The first thing I'm gonna say is that they did everything detailed.
It is a very long but very good excursion.
The driver was excellent!!
The coordinator, explanatory and correct.
The guide who accompanied us in Santa Marta is from another planet!!: attentive, very friendly, educated and fun.
It is an excursion that can be tiring, but it is worth it!
Breakfast is good.
Lunch is rich and complete.
If you are reading this review because you have doubts about going or not, do not go around, go and enjoy... it is worth it!
