I am 2nd generation Italian and a foodie. I love to eat and cook. I was so excited to learn how to make pasta like my grandmother used to make. . But this was not authentic pasta but a gluten free pasta class. NOWHERE in the description did it mention we would make gluten free pasta. Immediately I told the chef there was a mistake and we must be in the wrong class. The chef looked at our ticket and said it’s not an error and it wasn’t a big deal because when I got home I could look up the original recipe. Basically he changed the class because there were some people who were gluten free. I wanted to leave but My husband told me to just go with it and drink the free wine. The wine helped. We made the dough which consisted of eggs, corn meal, rice flour, zantham gum, and turmeric. Turmeric helps to make the color of the dough look like it was made with semolina flour. None of these ingredients would have been found in Nona’s kitchen. When we finished making the pasta, the chef cooked our pasta and served it in something he called s ragu- but it was actually a watery miso type soup. At the end of the event all we had was basically play-doh in bowl of dish water. My heart goes out to those who have gluten intolerance. But this establishment needs to clearly label this class as gluten free. The free wine gives this 3 stars.
Best thing we've done in Italy. We learned a lot and made good friends. I highly recommend!!!!
Great afternoon of pasta making Lovely group and Ricardo was a great teacher 3 types of pasta and good instructions Only red wine though Could do with offering rose and white Plenty of it though and water
Amazing experience! You would never know it’s gluten free!! Learned a lot, ate a lot and drank a lot!
This was a great local cooking class. Roberto did a great job explaining everything and made it a really fun and fast moving class. The food was delicious, and we all really enjoyed the class.
What a great way to spend Valentine’s Day! Our family, and a lovely mother/daughter combo, spent the late morning making 3 different types of pasta with Roberto. The class was paced perfectly, and would work for beginners or people with some previous skill. Everything was delicious, especially the butter/sage sauce. We’re not even gluten-free (we are vegetarian, though, which was easily accommodated), and it was wonderful. Roberto is meant to be teaching classes like these. Easy 5/5 stars.
Amazing experience, food was delicious. Roberto was an excellent teacher and he is hilarious. Would go again.
Amazing lesson and very patient and funny chef!! We were a small group of 4 so it was perfect for the experience.
We had so much fun! Roberto was extremely personable and informative. We did not realize it was a gluten free pasta class when booking but Roberto assured us the end result would be great and he was right. We all agreed that it tasted nothing like the gluten free pasta we have tried in the past.
At a restaurant in the basement where its private and you had everything you need. The chef was knowledgeable and made the class lots of fun
