アラタキ・ビジターセンターは、オークランド西部地域の自然の驚異を温かく迎えてくれるゲートウェイです。 教育の拠点として、またアウトドア愛好家の出発点としても機能し、訪問者と地域の手付かずの美しさや豊かな文化遺産を結びつける重要な役割を果たしています。
カレカレの滝はワイタケレ山脈地域公園の西部、カレカレ村の近くに位置しています。カレカレ滝は「ザ・ピアノ」の撮影地としても有名です。 この滝は、周囲が素晴らしく、アクセスも容易で、ニュージーランドの自然の名所のひとつとされています。
マーサー・ベイ・ループ・トラックはピハの上空からスタートし、西海岸の上下に素晴らしい景色を眺めながら、重要なマオリ・パー（要塞化された村）の跡地であるテ・アワの岬へと向かいます。
ピハはオークランドで最も有名な西海岸の黒砂のビーチです。 ワイタケレ山脈地域公園の一部であるピハは、海水浴客やサーファーに人気のスポットです。
