So much fun! The teacher was very patient and kind and gave great instructions. It was so neat to watch him work as well.

I did this workshop with my 12 yo daughter who enjoys drawing comics. It was a lovely introduction to manga techniques and our instructor was experienced, fun and very sweet. I really enjoyed it. And the results were excellent too!

I attended the drawing class/workshop with my 12-year-old daughter, who is a huge manga fan. Art and drawing are among her favorite pastimes, and I also really enjoy drawing. That’s why I thought this activity would surely be a lot of fun for both of us when we travel to Japan as a family (Easter break 2026), and we truly got our money’s worth—even more than that—I was overwhelmed by the course instructors’ warm and welcoming manner. They explained the drawing techniques to us in detail, provided constructive guidance on our drawing style, and consistently offered supportive and helpful guidance whenever we encountered hurdles or challenges. In short, I can only recommend this opportunity to anyone who wants to experience the insights, skills, and expertise of a real mangaka. The patience and empathy shown to you there are truly extraordinary and genuinely delightful! We felt incredibly comfortable there and still rave about the drawing lesson today whenever we talk about our trip to Japan. Because this was definitely one of the absolute highlights of our trip! Incredible experience. My kids love art and one loves manga. We all got to draw a character of our choice and went through sketching, outlining, shading, adding tone/accents, etc. I’m terrible at art and the sensei helped me through it. There were two manga artists and one woman who helped with translation and with our art. Very well done. Highly recommend.

I absolutely loved it , it was a great experience perfect for young artists like me. The 2 young ladies were very sweet, helpful and informative. My mother is not artistic and she enjoyed it too

I took this class on March 6, having just arrived in Tokyo and still quite jet lagged, but I had a wonderful time nonetheless! Rokkaku (manga sensei) and Ai (interpreter) were an absolute delight. Rokkaku did the initial draft of the character and pose I wanted and then helped me outline, add detail, ink, and use screen tone. Ai was lovely and kept the conversation flowing between the three of us, made sure we were on schedule, and helped communicate any questions I had or if I needed help from Rokkaku. I have a bit of art experience so it really felt like a collaborative workshop where I got to learn the tools and style of manga. I would recommend this activity whether or not you have drawing experience, Rokkaku was always there to help me sketch out an idea or make suggestions when I got stuck. All in all it was a really fun way to spend the first day of a trip to Tokyo!

It is a great experience for comic book lovers. Rather than just being an "anime experience," you can actually experience how the boys' manga you read is decorated and what process is used to create it. The instructor is a professional manga artist, and he just enjoys the time (copying, etc.) of drawing scenes from his favorite manga. Basically, it seems to be for foreign visitors to Japan, but you can fully enjoy it even if you are a Japanese. If you want to know the other side of the manga, I highly recommend you try it.

Such a nice change from the usual Tokyo experience - bring a photo and you’ll get a very cool memento of your visit. Highly recommend - good for families with older children.
