The balloon is in close proximity to the Atlantis Hotel. You can reserve a place, but it is only for one day but not for a certain time. In February you could fly either in the morning or in the evening. The problem is that sometimes the weather is not as clear, which is why you might not see as much as expected. We finally visit the attraction in the evening and there was no queue or our flight was a private flight. The pilot was friendly and the whole thing was a great experience, even if the visibility was not quite top.

Great experience
Definitely worth a visit and something different to do when in Dubai. We didn’t book the solo flight but no one else was there when we attended so got the balloon to ourselves which was great. Captain was friendly and explained the process of going up in the balloon and what to expect. Short flight but nice views of the palm and a great experience.

Atlantis continues to rise
So my wife & I first experienced the balloon in 2012. It was epic then and it’s still epic today.
If you’re not staying at the atlantis hotel, the balloon can still be booked however check the website for flight times and costs. If you choose to book on the day or in advance, you collect tickets from a kiosk near to the entrance and exit of Aquaventure. There are refreshments inside and in the Dubai heat, the kiosk offers some much needed shade and air conditioning.
The tethered balloon rises a few hundred metres into the air and offers spectacular views of the palm and the atlantis resort.
We opted for a morning flight and it was us 4 with another couple.
We had plenty of room to move around freely and the staff offered to take photos with our personal devices and that of a professional.
The whole experience only lasts approximately 10 minutes but it’s well worth doing and an experience most will never get to do.
Dubai is hot all year round but the spring and summer months are intense. Don’t forget to cover your skin, especially those with fair skin and pack a cool mug for something to drink. It can get very busy and similar to any attraction there is a queueing area. Most of this area is under cover but then it depends what time of day you visit and as to where the sun is as to if you are fully shielded from its rays.
Once the flight is over, you have the opportunity to purchase photos and items to commemorate your visit from a purpose built air conditioned gift shop.
It’s a relaxed atmosphere with some stunning items on offer.
My eldest has a fear of heights but braved the flight and was pleased with himself for doing so.
It doesn’t blow around as expected although there is two short sharp bumps as it begins to raise.
Staff as you would expect at the Atlantis are friendly and helpful.

Ruined my 60th
This was going to be our highlight for my 60th bday & booked this via Get yr guide. I got a ticket from 12.01am to 11.59pm & contacted Activity provider to ensure the balloon was still going ahead & advised will be there around 4.30pm sure had other activities booked for our last night in Dubai after. Mary Ann Suarez the consultant told me to only come at 5.30pm for a 6pm flight since there are set times to fly. This really affected our plans but I rocked up at 5.30pm & was told they just got grounded due to weather but if I came at 4.30pm it would have been ok. I was very upset since I was told by Mary Ann not to come at that time. Lyra at the office at Atlantis said flights win every 10 mins which is the reason I bought this ticket. And I got no apologies from Mary Ann till now for ruining my 60th at all excepting blaming me! No customer service at all so no I won’t recommend Dubai Balloons at all !!! Get yr guide confirmed with me that the ticket I bought is every 10 mins & refunded my ticket.

The perfect honeymoon sunrise
We stayed on the palm and came across the balloon at Atlantis, so decided to book ourselves onto the sunrise pass. We were fortunate to be not only the first ones there, but the only ones in attendance, so had the balloon completely to ourselves and the undivided attention of the pilot. As we went up, the winds were quite strong, despite the ground feeling like there was no wind, so we had to hold on quite tight whilst the balloon rocked and swayed. However, when we reached the pinnacle height that the balloon would reach, we managed to settle in to catch an awe-inspiring sunrise over the Burj Al Arab. We don’t often see the sun in cloudy England, so seeing the sun emerge from it’s pit under the horizon to grace the sky and lands with all its glorious rays, made the deepest depths of our souls awaken with warmth. We certainly basked in its beauty. Being the only ones there allowed us ample opportunity to learn about the balloon from the pilot and he was kind enough to take quite a lot of photos for us. In addition to this, a complimentary drink is offered in the balloon lounge, where we thoroughly enjoyed this while sitting and continuing to take in the sunrise in silence while the rest of Dubai was just starting to wake up. Highly recommend.
