Good balance between telling us things and letting us explore on our own. Guide Ina was very good and provided lots of historical info about Rila Monastery and Boyana Church. She was able to answer our many questions. Might have been better if the tour had just been in English instead of 3 languages. All in all very enjoyable.

We took the excursion to the Rila Monastery and the Boyana Church yesterday and it was a great experience. Both sites are beautiful and it is very much worth visiting them. Furthermore, our guide, Pavel, did a phenomenal job: very attentive, kind, and explaining everything to us in a very entertaining and easy-to-understand way. Without a doubt, a totally recommended excursion, and especially thanks to Pavel for making the experience even better.
The vehicle departed on time, the tour guide explained very seriously, and arranged for people to enter the museum in an orderly manner, avoiding crowding.

The 4 of us friends participated in the one-day tour to the Rila Monastery and the Boyana Church starting from Sofia, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. The meeting point in Sofia (behind the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral) is easy to find. The vehicle was modern, clean, and equipped with air conditioning, making the approximately two-hour trip very comfortable. The day's timing was managed to the minute, without any rush. Our guide ORNELLA was exceptional and even smiled, which is unusual here. During the journey, she told us fascinating anecdotes about the history, culture, and traditions of Bulgaria. Their passion and expertise enriched the visit enormously, explaining details about the wonderful frescoes of Rila and the life of the monastery that we would never have grasped on our own. The Rila Monastery: A place that takes your breath away, nestled in the mountains. We had just the right amount of time for both the guided explanation and to explore the complex on our own, take photos, and taste the typical local fritters (mekitsi) at the bakery near the entrance. I absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Sofia who wants to discover this fascinating place . Unbeatable value for money!
