Had such a great experience with Tony's surf school! The team was so helpful and attended to me and my family so well. And the surf lesson itself was amazing, they were really patient and helpful and took the time to help me feel confident. I was able to catch a few waves on my own and really enjoyed it.

This would be good for someone doing a first try at surfing. I had done 3 lessons before and when talking with Tony over WhatsApp, he said that the lessons would still be appropriate. They were not. I met with Tony in person for a few minutes where he gave me a rundown on the beach and then he passed me off to another instructor who basically didn't speak English. We could have made that work, but he wasn't able to offer me any substantial tips, any actual lessons, and didn't know how to respond when I was asking for pointers on my technique. I have surfed some before, and in particular I wanted to work on fundamentals when it comes to surfing by myself without an instructor. In particular what I wanted was practice with paddling myself into the wave and standing up myself, but no matter how many times I asked the instructor to stop, he kept pushing me into the wave, giving me an unnatural boost that would make a beginner FEEL good, but I wanted to actually LEARN. What was happening was that I wasn't able to actually practice because he was insisting I surf with training wheels. He was nice enough, but he just didn't understand. It was a very frustrating experience though. I also booked a 2 hour lesson, but I was sitting on the beach for 40 minutes while they wrapped up the last lesson before I was actually able to go out, and we ended early, so for my 2 hour lesson, I only surfed about an hour and 10 minutes. As I was wrapping up, they offered me water and a snack, which they said was included, but then without telling me it was an additional charge asked "what smoothie flavor I want", and then it turned out that cost extra without telling me. This experience would be nice for some people, but the whole thing for me was a big bummer.

This surfing lesson was incredible. Tony made sure the experience was amazing! The waves were the perfect size for the lesson I wanted. Tony taught me how to surf and how to turn on the surf board. He also ensured I was safe and always comfortable during the lesson.

The beach felt so fresh & was able to surf! They definitely are with you along the way and help to make sure you got it down.

Absolute rockstars. They were so good with our 5 and 7 year old sons which were scared to start. They followed their rhythm. No pressure. Playing in the sand and shallow water before feeling confident enough to try to get on a board. Mom and dad also had a great time. The teachers really help you out so you don’t lose all your energy paddling an wiping out so you actually can catch some waves and try to stand up!

Booked lessons for my grandkids 12 and 15..directly with the crew at Tonys .. Located at the public beach on the main street..in Manuel Antonio.. 2 hour class $50 US...money well spent..the kids had a ball. The insructor tooķ great care with them..grandson banged his knee on a small stone ..nothing serious but when I asked if they had any ice they went a bought a bag and also bought a water and banana for the grans ..set up a camopy and lounge chairs for us and we stayed most of the day.gteat memories.. Tony’s surf school was awesome! They welcomed us and we got right to it! We learned the basics of surfing before we were out on the water and they helped us the entire time. The instructors gave great feedback and we couldn’t have learned how to surf without them.

We did excursions every day during our 8 days in Manuel Antonio and surf lessons were one of our favorite things to do!! We were so glad we booked this and would highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn how to surf! The instructors are very helpful and took us out 1:1 so we were up on the boards on our first try!

Not only the coaches kept my kids safe they also learnt to surf. No way we could do it without a coach. Highly recommend this company.
