My husband and I recently went on the Kobe Sake Brewery tour with our guide, Yuko. The experience overall was fantastic! We visited four different sake breweries, each offering free tastings, which allowed us to explore a variety of sake. One highlight was meeting a very old master brewer and tasting sake made in his honor—such a unique and memorable moment! We also had the chance to visit the workshop where they make the traditional cedarwood sake barrels, which added a fascinating cultural touch to the tour. Yuko was a great guide and an excellent translator, making the entire experience easy to follow and enjoyable. However, I had hoped for a bit more depth in learning about the different types of sake. While the tastings were fun, I would have loved more guidance in understanding the distinctions between the various sakes and how to identify what you might prefer. That said, the tour was still a delightful experience and a great way to explore Kobe’s rich sake culture. With a little more focus on educating guests about sake varieties, this tour would be even better!
