The Vicus Caprarius Underground Roman History Tour offers a compelling journey into Rome’s past, tracing ancient water paths and revealing subterranean ruins, ancient coins, African amphorae, and architectural details from a Domus residence. The tour unfolds with a clear narrative that connects engineering prowess with daily life in ancient Rome, making the underground findings feel layered and meaningful, while the progression toward the surface keeps the experience dynamic and engaging.
The journey concludes with a visit to the Trevi Fountain, a perfect capstone to the day that lets you soak in Baroque splendor after exploring the underground networks. Erika was our guide, bringing history to life with enthusiasm and clarity. She also shared a wonderful tip: after the underground portion, head to a nearby department store to see an aqueduct exhibit, then go to the rooftop for a panoramic view of the city. This extra suggestion adds a clever, contemporary twist to the day and a rewarding skyline moment.

This was very...
This was very interesting. We got to go underground to a recent excavation near the Trevi Fountain. They discovered the aqueduct that fields the Trevi Fountain. It is the only original aqueduct that is still in use. You can see the water entering and leaving the basin before going to the fountain. There are also remains of a Roman house and a medieval house that was constructed above it. This is a unique tour and very cool. Our tour guide was excellent and quite passionate

MICHELLE an amazing and selfless tour guide
Michelle is an amazing tour guide. She was so helpful and detailed in explaining things to us. She was extremely helpful. My wife, my toddler son and I are super grateful for her patience and kindness. We definitely are going to recommend Michelle for our friends coming soon to Rome.

Negative
I didn't get to do this. I had booked for the underground Trevi, when I arrived for the tour was advised the walking tour was in the morning and the Trevi in the afternoon which I wasn't able to do. Very disappointing.
