アディ・アル・ヒタン「クジラの谷」は、エジプトのファイユーム県にある古生物学遺跡で、カイロの南西約150kmに位置しています。[1] 2005年7月[3] にユネスコ世界遺産[2] に指定されました。これは、クジラの最も初期の形態であるクジラ類（絶滅したクジラの亜目）の数百の化石が発見されたことが理由です。この遺跡は、クジラの進化に関する最大の謎の1つである、陸上動物だったクジラが海洋哺乳類として出現した理由を説明する証拠を明らかにしています。このような化石の数、密度、品質がこれほど高く、アクセスしやすく、魅力的で保護された景観の中にある場所は、世界中どこにもありません。[4] これが、ユネスコによって保護された世界遺産のリストに追加された理由です。[5]この遺跡で発見された化石は最古のものではないかもしれないが、その地域に非常に集中しており、保存状態も良く、胃の内容物も一部そのまま残っているほどである。
ワディ・エル・ラヤン渓谷は1759km2の面積があり、そのうち113km2がワディ・エル・ラヤン湖群の主な水域です。ファイユーム市の南西約65km、ナイル川の西80kmに位置しています。ワディは農業排水を人工湖に利用しており、2つの独立したワディ・エル・ラヤン湖群の保護区となっています。保護区は50.90km2の上湖と62.00km2の下湖で構成され、その間には滝があります。泉の中には、下湖の南側に広大な移動砂丘がある3つの硫黄泉があります。ワディ・エル・ラヤンの滝はエジプト最大の滝と考えられています。泉の南と南東にはガバル・マンキール・アル・ラヤンがあり、海洋化石や考古学的遺跡が見つかります。下湖の近くにあるガバル・マドウェラは、広大な砂丘で知られています。北西部には、絶滅したクジラの化石を含む保護区であるワディ・エル・ヒタンがあります。

Impressive and off the beaten track. Service was excellent, both the attention of Adi, the person responsible for the organization and that of the two drivers. We went from Cairo to El Fayoun in a mini bus firebomb just for the four of us. Once there, a jeep awaited us with a very expert driver who worked wonders up and down dunes and taking us to places with incredible scenery. We also did sandboarding and visited an oasis with a waterfall on Lake Qarum. Inolvidable.

Excellent experience. Mr Adel Ahmed organized our trip for Fayoum.. A day long trip it was filled with fun, activities and lunch. It was a well organised trip and Mr Adel took care of every single things during the trip starting from hotel pickup and drop. I recommend this trip with Mr Adel for All
