I am traveling with my husband and a 4 year old. The Aviary was a huge highlight for our trip. Its relaxing and we caught an Aviary show with the rangers. Playa Blanca would have been wonderful on a weekday. The water is a beautiful turquoise blue and the lunch was delicious. We went on a Sunday and it was super super packed. It also took a long time to leave the beach because so many tour buses all left at the same time. Make sure to bring Pesos because to have to pay to use the bathrooms and changing rooms. Otherwise, would have been amazing.

Aviary itself is beautiful. Find a different way to get there although. The bus was constantly late, nobody spoke english and when i didn’t want to add lunch or beach to the tour i was forced to wait around while other tour packages did their thing.

If you want to see the aviary, you are better off booking a taxi or uber or private trip (aviary website has options for private drivers). The aviary was amazing, definitely recommend it. This trip felt like a rushed pit stop at the aviary while dropping other people off at the beach. Roughly 3 hours of hot sweaty tour bus for only 2 hours at the aviary. I also think they had one of the worst locations on the beach. The tour guide would not wait to make sure people were following her or announce when she was leaving. Also they picked us up an hour late from the meeting point.

Bus was old and very uncomfortable. Pickup was an hour late. We were stranded at an aviary for 6 hours waiting for the bus that went on to a beach… which was not part of the itinerary.

They drop us at the aviary and scheduled us to be picked up at 12, they simply didn’t show up, when I called they said they forgot. After a while ( aprox 1 hour) they send a car that took us to the beach, we lost 1 out of three hours of beach time due to their lack of interest in us. I don’t recommend ATC Agenciatours or LG travel, whatever they are called.

The Aviary itself, it's a wonder A very well thought out place and designed to enjoy birds. Transportation was comfortable Playa Blanca, it was too crowded maybe so I attended one Sunday.

Cost effective way to visit Colombian National Aviary, and enjoying the hotel pick up. You'd better know some Spanish to understand the detail arrangement and also, you'd better have WhatsApp installed installed in your phone, so that you can get pickup time notice from the operator.

Be aware that this tour is transportation only, to go to the aviary (for 2 hours, its amazing) and to Playa Blanca (for 3 hours, beautiful beach but the vendors are annoying). 5 stars, minus 1 star for no english speaking guide or driver, +1 star for hotel pickup and dropoff that was not advertised when I booked. Happy with the tour.

The aviary is a delight. It's not crowded, the diversity of birds is wonderful, they put on a morning and afternoon show. Baru beach is beautiful but awful. Boats whistle for swimmers to get out of the way, so they can come ashore. Your head is on a swivel to not get run over. The smell of diesel is gagging and near constant. Lots of vendors approach you. You must be able to get up and down stairs of a sort from the parking lot and not mind a bumpy ride.

We combined the aviary with playa Blanca. The aviary was incredible. It was our best day in Colombia. My husband had his doubts, but was really glad we went. I would do the tour again if we are ever back in Colombia. Go early for coolest temperatures.
