Very competent and friendly guide. Thank you very much!
What an amazing tour! Rukube encourages questions and answers them with confidence and clarity. He shared with us his wealth of knowledge of Tanzanian history and culture and his tour gave us a real insight into the way of life in Dar. He also gave us opportunity to meet and speak to locals which was very interesting. We could tell that Rukube genuinely wanted us to experience the real Dar es Salaam and he had planned an itinerary that did exactly that. We enjoyed taking a tuk tuk and a bus and drinking coconuts! We were especially touched that he stayed with us until our taxi arrived after the tour had finished. We would recommend this tour to anyone who wishes to see the heart of Dar es Salaam.
This was a great tour I loved it very much. The guide was very informative and showed me around Dar es Salaam. A great tour if you are new to the city and want to get to know the area.
Fantastic tour of downtown Dar - Rukube gave a very interesting and thorough explanation of the development of Dar, the impact of historical foreign influences and what it means to be living in Tanzania today. Well worth it, don’t miss out!
I booked our tour during our day trip to Tanzania from Zanzibar. If you are looking for an immersive experience please book with Rukube at Chuh Chuh Tours. When we departed the Ferry, I reached out to our guide because I was not sure where the meeting place was in relation to the Ferry. Rukube was able to connect with me via WhatsApp. We were actually very close which is very convenient. We learned so much about the history and culture of Tanzania. We toured various parts of the city from the Fish Market where we enjoyed a delicious fish soup to the food markets and shops. We experienced a Tuk Tuk 😀 He made sure we understood the local customs and lead us through this journey. Rukube was so kind he made sure we were well taken care of throughout our tour. He adjusted the tour to our places of interest and was time conscious to ensure we didn't miss our ferry back. I would highly recommend Chuh Chuh for the perfect introduction to Tanzania! We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and would book again.
It was an amazing amazing tour. My tour guide Rubukwe was very knowledgeable and told me about everything in extreme detail. He was very warm and friendly! Anyone wanting to know Dar es Salaam firsthand should definitely choose this! Thank you so so much
We love to go into new cities and experience local life and walk among the people. This is exactly what we did on our Chug Chug Tour.Rukube Shine met us at our hotel with a drive and took us into the heart of Dar es Salaam and informed us of the histories of Tanzania and Zanzibar. He was very knowledgeable. We saw the cathedral, the Ferry Fish Market, the 300 acres market, rode in Bodo Bodas, so the local medicines and so much more. If you want to experience the real Dar es Salaam, this is the tour for you.
A well-timed and conducted tour. Our guide targeted his discussion to local history and culture as well as the history of the city and country. We got a nice cross-section of city life lived today as well as recent and long ago settlements. The whole tour was extremely thoughtful and interesting. I'm glad we went. Much more interesting than simply reading a guidebook. Thanks
Such an enriching experience. Mr. Rukube and his colleague were exceptionally kind and attentive throughout the tour. They asked whether there were any topics I’d like to explore in greater depth, which I truly appreciated. They provided a thorough and insightful overview of Tanzania’s lifestyle and history, covering all political, social, and economic dimensions. They answered all my questions with patience and genuine enthusiasm, and I particularly valued how openly they shared their own personal stories and backgrounds.
My city tour in Dar es Salaam with our guide, Rukube, and our driver, Vincent, was easily the most organized tour I have ever joined. There is no right or wrong, but many tours tend to be organised in a way that the explanation is given per site, so that the sequencing and inter-dependencies are sometimes missing. However, Rukube explained the context of Tanzania in a brilliant, structured, "block-by-block" manner. He walked us through the political history starting from the Oman Sultanate era to the German and British division of Tanganyika and Zanzibar, while first showing us a series of buildings that served as a govern body of colonisers. I was particularly impressed by his explanation of how the German settlers’ preference for the Swahili language over German actually helped unify the country’s many tribes under one shared culture. He also provided deep insights into the religious evolution of the country, from Islam and Christianity to the modern movement to revive original Tanzanian identity. Beyond the history, we saw the real-life pulse of the city at the fish market. Rukube’s perspective was incredibly wholesome; he emphasized how the market serves as a livelihood not just for the people, but also for the local birds and stray cats. Even though we only had one hour due to a short layover, I left feeling that my introduction to Tanzania was complete. Kudos to Rukube, his driver Vincent, and his wife and business partner, Neema, for running such a professional and high-quality business. If you want a deep, meaningful understanding of Dar in any amount of time, this is the team to book!
