We requested and booked a private tour. The TripAdvisor description for this tour says “Private Tour.” We booked well in advance but the evening before the tour, we get a message saying he hopes it’s not a problem that 2 others are coming along. It was already non-refundable by that point and too late to find an alternative. The others who went with us said they also booked a private tour. Had I known, I would with another guide. We never had this problem with any other guides in Romania.

The entire tour was delightful! Our guide was courteous, knowledgeable and helpful in every aspect. Peles and Pelisor castles were amazing. We only visited the gardens at Cantacuzino.

The main attraction (at least for me) on this private tour were our visits to Peles Castle, and to Pelesor, the smaller residence next to the castle. I loved both of these places. The technical features King Carol incorporated into the castle never cease to amaze me -- this is the second I've toured it. I had never been to Pelesor before, and while it's smaller and far less ornate, I found it to be a wonderful example of the way royals can choose to live comfortably and more modestly. We also stopped in Predeal to see a monastery and at the castle where the movie Wednesday was filmed -- both very interesting. A real highlight of the trip was our tour guide, Florin. He made every stop enjoyable, let us take our time, answered our endless questions, and seemed to take real pleasure in our interest in the sights we were seeing and our broader questions about Romanian history. Florin was patient, unerringly kind, and let us move at our own pace. (The three of us on the tour were aged 61, 69, and 71. My friends also had their dog along, and Florin even made the dog feel welcome.). I highly recommend this tour, especially if you can get Florin as your guide.

We had a very good day with Florin yesterday (September 29/24). He picked us up at our hotel in Brasov, promptly at 8:30, as he had said he would….always a good beginning! As he was worried about the crowds and the rain, we drove quickly to Peles Castle, and he provided a very good commentary about the castle as we toured inside. Next was Caraiman Monastery…a modern working church and Monastery….interesting. We had asked about seeing one of the fortified churches in the area, and he kindly agreed, taking us to Harman, and again providing information and commentary about the church as we toured through. He is very knowledgable and professional in his approach. We certainly would recommend him as a tour guide while in Brasov.

We really enjoyed this trip. The palace was very beautiful, especially in the snow. Florin was an excellent guide with a lot of knowledge about the history. He also took us to the George Enescu house. We recommend this trip with Florin.

Florin was a good guide. Good way to get a good variety in a short amount of time.would do again 10/10

My wife and I have a wonderful 3 days tour with Guide Florin , he picked us from Bucharest airport on time do Brasov , Sibeu and castles .... he speaks good English and always on time , his car is comfortable and safe driving. I do recommend him as private guide for a family and couples as well as lone traveller. Thanks Florin

Florin is an amazing guide of this region. He made our short stay in Brasov a special one, with a Sunday trip to Peles Castle, the George Enescu House, and a monastery.. Per his suggestion, we left for the tour early in the morning to beat the crowds in the castle and the traffic on the way there.This was a very good idea as the castle was very busy by the time we had completed our tour there. Florin very expertly related the history or Romania.from ancient times, through the middle ages, into the emergence of the nation, both world wars, the communist era, the Ceausescu period, and recent times. We very much enjoyed Florin's company during our day with him. He is polite and kind and clearly cares that his customers have an enjoyable experience.

Florin picked me up in his car at 8.30am from my hotel in Brasov. He had a big map and showed the plan for the day. It is a private tour, so you can be flexible too, which is great. Safe driver with great conversation. I learnt a lot about Romania. First stop was the Caraiman Monastery. Beautiful at the foot of the mountains. We saw both the wooden church, the sacred tree and the inside of the colourful orthodox cathedral and also checked out the animals there. Very cool seeing the rabbits, swans, horses, birds etc. Then we carried onto the George Enescu house. Entry is approximately 15 RON (EUR 3) with an audio guide. This is a wonderful place to see. Great information and the original piano is in the house. Next was onto Pelisor and Peles castle, we had about 3hours in total for both. You need this much time for them!! They are amazing! The highlight of the tour. Pelisor is the smaller castle, entry 20RON (4 EUR). You need to buy a ticket to take photos (I was lucky and the lady let me take them with my iphone for free). I spent 1hour in here. The heart of Queen Marie of Romania is in the golden room! Next was Peles castle, right next door. Entry is 60RON (EUR12.60) for upstairs and downstairs and photo pass is 35 RON (EUR7.35) and more if you want to video too. There are toilets there. Make sure you go before and after. You visit with a guided tour, which is huge. Took 1-1h 15min for the double tour. Make sure you visit both up and downstairs. I couldn't believe the amount of people who only bought tickets for half the castle! You came all the way to Romania to see half the castle. The upstairs section is lovely! The tour guide from the castle is very quick and it's difficult to hear them all the time because of the big groups, so make sure you go up the front or at the back to get photos. The outside is lovely to walk around too. I had a coffee and a slice of pizza at the cafe on my way back to the car. There are lots of shops around too. Florin waited for me during this time. Next stop was 1400m up where the ski field is. So many cute stray dogs around. Bring dog food to feed them if you get a chance. Colder up her but not too bad in April. You can take the cable car up to 2000m if you want to, however, the weather turned when I was there. Florin said I could take the cable car down and he will drive to pick me up. So I paid 20 RON and took the ride down, it was a nice way to see the view. Then we headed back to Brasov and he dropped me back at my hotel. It was a lovely day! There isn't any time for lunch, so make sure you bring food or quickly buy a slice of pizza at the cafe and bring water and snacks as well. Lovely the day!! Great guide and very personal. I like this tour because it is different to any other tour you book, most other tours all go to the same place at the same time or they only have 1hour at peles castle (which is crazy!). Highly recommended! Thanks Florin! I will be back next time to organise a tour!

We had a terrific day with Florin. We enjoyed his company and his knowledge of the places we visited. The ride on the Sinaia Gondola was an unexpected bonus. Florin collected us from the train station and dropped us off at our accommodation in Brasov. Thanks again, Florin, for the lovely day; it was one of the highlights of our visit.(In retrospect, we should also thank him for being such a good driver; something that can not be said about a lot of his compatriots!)
