Our guide Dakota gave a very interesting and informative commentary, covering topics such as the Gold Rush and the history of the Mint. We then saw the one tonne gold coin and displays of gold nuggets, before Dakota demonstrated a gold pour. Afterwards there was time to wxplore other gold and coin displays. Definitely worth the time to take this tour!

Wanted to visit the Mint for many years. Unfortunately the visit was both underwhelming and disappointing. First impression was, nice historic building but it could do with a refresh, surely the Mint would have plenty of $$$ to keep the place looking "Minty". Upon entry there are several cramp adjoining rooms which were effectively jewellery stores offering products that, whilst beautifully crafted, were way beyond the means of the average visitor to buy. Why not sell this stuff elsewhere to free up space for something more interesting, like expanding the museum? Other rooms were set aside for people to buy gold etc. Again, this could also be done elsewhere. Another room offered items that were closer to the average persons budget (including the obligatory made "overseas" trinkets and other junk) but the range of items offered was truly very disappointing, I was hoping to buy some special gifts here for young relatives but didn't bother. To access the museum you have to pay up and do the tour. The tour is pretty lame and overpriced and was pitched at those aged under 12. The museum was semi-interesting but I believe the Mint could do a lot lot more to showcase their history. If space is a problem, shift the jewellery stores and other services off site and reorganise the place. On our travels around WA we saw much better museums, many were even free entry!

A real gem of a tour. Unreal stories told and a really great hour or so to be had. Really incredible to see the gold and the history. We loved it.
We visited the Perth Mint today. Nice to look around, but the behind the scenes tour is a must. It is an informative tour with plenty of exhibits and a live gold pour. Worth going to see.

Definitely recommend booking this tour when visiting Perth. Our guide David handled the group with ease, spoke clearly throughout the tour, gave us plenty of free time to explore the exhibits and topped the tour off with a little humour mixed in too which made for a very enjoyable afternoon.
Very informative and fun. Only goes for about an hour but that was enough to get the info and have a look around. Tour guide was funa nd engaging. A must do when visiting Perth!
One hour tour is sufficient., the static displays are interesting and the Gold pouring was entertaining.
