ホーマートンネルは、1953年に開通したニュージーランド南島のフィヨルドランド地方にある全長1.2kmの道路トンネルです。 ニュージーランド州道94号線がトンネルを通り、ミルフォード・サウンドとテ・アナウやクイーンズタウンを結び、ホーマー・サドルでダラン山脈を貫通している。
ミルフォード・サウンドに着いたら、フィヨルドのそびえ立つ峰々の下を眺める1時間45分のネイチャー・クルーズに出かけましょう。 知識豊富な船内大自然のガイドが同行するこの小さなボートクルーズでは、フィヨルドの端を探索し、印象的な滝やユニークな野生動物をご覧いただけます。イルカ、ペンギン、オットセイ、在来の鳥類など、さまざまな野生動物が生息しています。

A long day but well worth it! Katy was an excellent driver and had lots of good information to share. We lucked into a clear beautiful day at Milford. The lunch was amazing. If only I could figure out viator rewards (that don’t appear and there is no contact form!)
Overall an amazing experience. The guide, Will, was fantastic and it was a spectacular day of sight seeing and wild life. We saw multiple kea along with other birds.

Will was an excellent tour guide and an excellent driver too! He kept us on time, entertained with stories about the area which made the 6 hour drive easy. We saw seals, dolphins, penguin and even a Kea! The boxed lunch was delicious. Unfortunately our flight return was cancelled due to weather but even the return ride was not bad. Well worth it.

This tour was a mixed bag. Nevel, our driver/guide, was great but weather negatively affected everything. Due to heavy rain, we missed a few stops that were part of the tour. Then, the first 1/2 of the cruise was in the rain, and lastly, our return flight got canceled. Milford Sound is pretty cool but I did not think it was as awe inspiring as the hype, so I was a little disappointed. We did see a penguin, seal, and dolphins. Do not plan or keep your trip if its pouring rain. Really, while difficult, the company should have offered a cancelation. We did get to see snow at the tunnel.

Milford Sound has its own unique microclimate and actually experiences rain more frequently than not. It’s a big part of what makes the landscape so lush and dramatic, with rainy days often creating hundreds of temporary waterfalls throughout the fiord. That said, we completely understand that persistent rain can change the experience, particularly when it means some of our usual scenic stops aren’t possible. Our tours operate in both wet and dry weather when conditions are safe to do so, while scenic flights are much more weather-dependent. We know how disappointing it can be to look forward to flying back over the mountains only to have the weather make that impossible. We’re glad there were still some special moments along the way, especially seeing a penguin, seals and dolphins, as well as the snow around the Homer Tunnel. Thank you a
Will, the driver and guide was great! It was a full seated trip, we were on the last row in the van. My wife normally gets motion sickness, but thanks to Will's driving skills, she did not get sick at all. Milford Sound is a must go if you are in the area. Small group, also means smaller boat hence closer to the water falls.

We participated in the guided tour to Milford Sound departing from Queenstown with pickup in front of the hotel. The organization is excellent with pickup directly in front of the hotel and return to the location in the evening. Our guide was James, he accompanied us during the trip to Milford Sound and back with stories about the history and Maori legends of the places and interesting information on local fauna and flora. We made short stops during the trip there for photos and restrooms. Upon arrival at Milford Sound we were provided with a good and abundant packed lunch and we took the boat tour of about two hours with a description of the places and their history. During the day it rained but it was still a nice tour because we were able to admire many waterfalls that are visible only when it rains. Tour absolutely recommended in any weather!
