Highly recommended. The tour in general was very good, organized, punctual transfers. Geraldine our guide was always very kind and helpful.
We booked the tour by purchasing the full package, but the experience ended up being highly frustrating due to the lack of empathy and poor management by the company. Due to a medical emergency documented upon entering the country, we had to reschedule the original date. The agency applied its policies inflexibly and charged us a 50% penalty ($189.50 USD additional), which we paid in full so as not to lose the activity. In total, we paid $569 USD for 2 adults and 1 child. The real problem occurred on the day of the tour: they canceled the main attractions (the buggy ride, sandboarding, and the picnic) citing social unrest. We understand that external conditions are beyond their control, but the compensation offered was ridiculous compared to what we booked. They canceled almost all the appeal of the excursion and only refunded us $55 USD in total for the entire family group. In summary: when the client has a force majeure issue, the agency demands strict payments by relying on its terms and conditions; however, when they cannot deliver the promised service or the main attractions of the tour, the solution is a symbolic refund that does not cover the cut-down experience at all. I do not recommend booking with them if you are looking for fair and professional service.

Su reserva original tenía un valor de USD 379 y, al comunicarse aproximadamente a la 1:00 AM., cuando faltaban alrededor de tres horas para el inicio del tour, la reserva ya se encontraba en condición de no-show. Sin embargo, considerando el motivo de salud que nos informó, hicimos una excepción y le ofrecimos realizar un nuevo tour en otra fecha pagando únicamente el 50% del valor original (USD 190). Por ello, no corresponde unir ambos pagos como si fueran un solo servicio. El primer tour se perdió y el pago de USD 190 le permitió acceder a una nueva experiencia el 11 de septiembre. En esta experiencia realizaron prácticamente todo el itinerario: fueron recogidos y retornados a su alojamiento en nuestro bus de lujo, visitaron las Islas Ballestas, la Hacienda Caravedo, realizaron el tour y la cata de pisco, tuvieron el almuerzo incluido en el viñedo y visitaron Huacachina. La parte que no pudo realizarse fue la actividad de buggy y sandboarding, junto con el picnic en las dunas, debido a una intervención de las autoridades que afectó la operación de todos los buggies en Huacachina. Esta situación ocurrió mientras el tour ya estaba en desarrollo y fue completamente externa a nuestra organización. Nuestro equipo también coordinó una alternativa con la guía para que pudieran disfrutar de Huacachina y del atardecer desde las dunas, en lugar de simplemente finalizar la actividad y dejar al grupo sin ninguna opción. **DO NOT BOOK — Extremely Disappointing Experience and Poor Customer Service** We booked the more expensive Lima Experience tour specifically because it included the **Paracas and Huacachina experience with dune buggies, sand sledding, and a sunset picnic**. We paid an additional **$135** for this experience. On September 11, we arrived to find that the dune buggy operation had been shut down by authorities for safety violations and that the dune buggy and sand sledding activities were not operating. **Lima Experience knew—or should have known—before taking customers on an approximately 20 hour round trip that the primary activities we had paid for were unavailable.** Instead of notifying us before departure and giving us the opportunity to cancel, reschedule, or choose another experience, they proceeded with the tour anyway. We spent approximately **four hours traveling from Lima to the area and another five hours returning—roughly nine hours of our vacation spent in transit—only to discover that the activities that were the entire reason we booked this expensive tour could not take place.** We also did not receive the advertised sunset picnic. What makes this even more unacceptable is the company’s response afterward. **When guests began complaining about what had happened, Lima Experience shut off its WhatsApp communication, preventing guests from communicating with the company through the channel they had been using.** Rather than addressing customers’ concerns, the company effectively stopped communication. I understand that a government or police shutdown may be beyond the tour company’s control. **What is absolutely within the company’s control is whether it takes customers on an eight-to-nine-hour excursion while knowing that the primary activities advertised and paid for are unavailable—and how it treats those customers afterward.** A reputable tour company should have contacted us **before we left Lima**, explained the situation, offered a meaningful alternative, rescheduled the tour, or cancelled and refunded the affected portion. Instead, we lost an entire day of our limited time in Peru and paid a premium for experiences we never received. **We are extremely disappointed with Lima Experience and with the way this situation was handled. We would strongly caution other travelers against booking this company unless they are willing to accept the risk of paying for activities that may not be provided and having difficulty communicating with the company when something goes wrong.** We are seeking an appropriate refund for the services we paid for but did not receive.
Hello Marilyn, We understand your frustration, especially because the buggy, sandboarding, and picnic activities were an important part of the experience. However, we would like to clarify that Lima Experience had no prior knowledge of a total suspension. At 2:12 PM, while the tour was already underway, our operator informed us that the authorities had intervened in Huacachina and that the operation of the buggies was uncertain. This information was communicated to the passengers, and finally, at 4:28 PM, we received confirmation that the activity could not take place. We also shared the available evidence regarding the authorities’ intervention and the communications with our operator, keeping passengers informed about the situation. The suspension generally affected the operation of the buggies in Huacachina that day and was not a decision directed only at our group. We also coordinated an alternative with our guide so that passengers could enjoy the views of Huacachina and the sunset from the dunes. For the activity that could not take place, we offered a refund of USD 20 per person. The rest of the itinerary, including the Ballestas Islands, Hacienda Caravedo, lunch, Huacachina Oasis, and transportation in our luxury bus, was carried out as planned and without any issues. Our tour is a complete Paracas and Huacachina experience, not exclusively a dune tour, so we consider that a 100% refund would not correspond to the services actually provided. We sincerely regret that this situation affected your experience, but we want to make it clear that we did not withhold information or voluntarily cancel the service. This was an external situation that occurred while the tour was already underway.
Our guild Bianca was very good! She was knowledgeable, communicated well and enthusiastic. The paracas tour was entertaining with the animals and the boat ride. The Pisco tour was very educational and we enjoyed seeing the vineyard and distillery. Unfortunately due to some strike we where not able to enjoy the fully Huacachina experience which was very disappointing as it is a far journey to have done with little satisfaction at the end. Especially as the Huacachina dune buggy and sandboarding is the main reason we chose this excursion. Bianca tried her best during this situation, definitely not her faul. I do feel like we would not have done this if we had known the activity was not happening. It is a 4 hour bus drive returning to Lima by 11.30pm tough, long day in a vehicle from 4.30am.

However, we would like to clarify that we did not know in advance that these activities would be suspended. Unfortunately, this was an external situation beyond our control. Our team and guide did everything possible to provide an alternative in Huacachina so the group could still enjoy the dunes and sunset, and a refund was offered for the activities that could not take place. Do not book this tour. The company is the worse experience of a lifetime of fantastic travel. Unprofessional. And lie.. police had shut them down for unsafe protocols. They still take your money put you on a bus from 4 am to midnight and you never get to do half the activities. This was a disaster.

The tour was completed almost entirely, including the Ballestas Islands, Hacienda Caravedo, lunch, the pisco tour and tasting, Huacachina, and all scheduled transportation. Only the buggy and sandboarding activities could not take place due to an unexpected intervention by the authorities that affected buggy operations in Huacachina that day. A refund was offered for the activities that could not be provided. At no point did we lie or withhold information. We kept our passengers informed as the situation developed and shared the available evidence and communications regarding this unexpected intervention. It is also inaccurate to state that our company was “shut down for unsafe protocols.” The situation affected buggy operations in the area and was not a shutdown of Lima Experience. For these reasons, we do not believe a 1-star rating fairly represents the services, communication, and activities that were actually provided during the tour.

We had such a great experience with Bianca! She was an amazing tour guide, very knowledgeable, friendly, and always happy to answer all of our questions. She explained everything really well and made the entire day fun and enjoyable. We absolutely loved visiting the Ballestas Islands and seeing the sea lions, as well as exploring the Huacachina desert and sand dunes. Everything was well organized, and Bianca made the experience even more memorable. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend this tour and Bianca to anyone visiting Peru!

My husband and I joined the full-day trip to Paracas and Huacachina with Lima Experience. The day started with a gorgeous boat tour around the Ballestas Islands, where we saw penguins, sea lions, and pelicans. Next, we visited one of the oldest pisco distilleries in the region and enjoyed a delicious lunch. The day concluded with an exciting dune buggy ride, followed by a breathtaking sunset and an aperitivo in the dunes. Convenient hotel pickup and drop-off made the whole trip completely seamless. Our guide, Giovana, was wonderfully warm, attentive, and informative, explaining everything clearly in both English and Spanish. Highly recommended!
My daughter and I truly enjoyed our day in Paracas and Huacachina. It’s a full on day with amazing experiences. Geraldine, our guide, was pleasant, organized and knowledgeable. She also went out of her ways to help us retrieve my daughter’s journal that was left on the bus. Many thanks Geraldine.
