I don't know . . . I did learn about which stars were which, which groupings of stars were what, which ones were planets, a little history etc., but when it began to get a little cloudy - obviously not his fault - I got a lot of long ramblings about stuff that kinda was related but also felt like filler to justify the two hours. Maybe on a clearer night, there would have been more relative material to talk about.
Save your money. Read the fine print. Not an excursion that should even be offered on Trip advisor.
Chad is a wealth of information. His animated way of telling stories is entertaining as well as informative. We learned a lot, had a number “Oh Wow” moments on some facts that he shared. Unfortunately, it was cloudy and we couldn’t see many stars. However, he showed us and explained so much through the use of his computer, I can’t wait for a clear night so that I can actually see all we learned. A lot of it was truly fascinating even with the clouds. Incidentally, he offered a refund to anyone that felt the cloudy night ruined the presentation. We did not take him up on that. This guy has clearly done his research and it’s a privilege to receive a well thought out summary of years of study. There are no bathrooms be sure to go before you go. And dress warm!!!
Chad was great commentator and very informative. We had about an hour of clear skys, before cloud cover. Saw a huge UFO flying above us, many said it was just a large shooting star! It was so low and bright and illuminated everyone in our area, clearly! Chairs and blankets great idea, we used blanket to lay flat on ground to look up. Educational for all ages. Saw most major planets and constellations. Great tour!
As a first time visitor to Sedona and wanting to experience a "dark sky" location for viewing the stars, I booked this excursion based on the description. We experienced not only a thorough explanation of the broad sky we were able to see but also a detailed presentation of the mythology behind the names of the constellations we saw. The guide was engaging, knowledgeable and responsive to questions.

Chad was phenomenal! Extremely knowledgeable and he kept everyone engaged. The set up with chairs and blankets was perfect. The one thing I would suggest is that guests are informed better about the very dark, unlit road/path which was unnerving, especially as a female traveling alone. I pulled up right to the location described only 8 minutes prior to the 7:30 start and a ma who I assumed was the guide waved. I apprehensively parked and very cautiously began to walk in the dark toward what I THOUGHT was the meeting spot and only then did I see the neon sign be placed up on the roof of the vehicle by the guide. All in all this was a fantastic experience and Chad was so great!! He even offered to walk anyone to the vehicles!

This put me behind on getting that sign up. And yes, the road is paved towards the end but it resembles a gravel road. However, this is pretty typical if you're taking a night sky tour because you need to get off the beaten path a bit with no lights to have a good dark sky. The lights I do have on for guests to find me, I Immediately turn off after guests arrive so as to make it darker for us as well as any other people out star gazing in the area. Something that might make you feel safer too, is realize that Sedona has one of the lowest crime rates in the nation. Very knowledgeable with humor, learned about astronomy vs astrology, science, and both Greek mythology and Native American connections to the stars. Wish he had a handout with a brief overview of the highlights as it was a lot of info to digest! But good!
