The tour name was 'Red & Rose Valley Sunset Hiking Tour with Trekking Dog Oscar'. Personally I dont like walking tours very much, because I prefer to determine my own walking pace. You can easily hike the Red & Rose Valley by yourself without a guide. But after seeing the advertisement of this tour I got very enthusiastic. I love walking dogs, so thought it would be very special to be walking with a dog in this landscape. Unfortunately there is no dog on the tour at all. If I would have known I would never have booked this tour, just false advertising.

The sunset hike with Samil, Mehmed and Oscar was just simply amazing! It’s like spending half a day hiking with friends. We learnt a lot about the culture & history as we hiked around the Red & Rose Valleys, visited the Column Church & had fresh orange juice from a cafe at the summit. We caught the sunset from the summit as well, and the view was stunning. Oscar was a great guide! I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see the beauty of the Red & Rose Valleys.

The guide was accurate and professional. We visited a beautiful church (hidden behind the pigeon house) that on no other tour would have us visit. Near the cafeteria where you stop to rest (note: drinks are not included, only water at the beginning of the tour) there is another frescoed church that, unlike the others we have seen, is not closed (perhaps because it is not reached by many people) and you can visit. We enjoyed the sunset and the view of the rose Valley in the middle of a not too challenging route. Best tour of Cappadocia for us! (We also did the Red tour and the green tour)

What a fantastic tour we had. The trek through the red and rose valley was breathtakingly beautiful. The colors, the rock formations, the view, a fantastic sunset. But what was most fantastic about the trip was Oskar together with the guide. Our children absolutely loved Oskar, and greatly enjoyed the walk. They were so busy with Oskar, they made the walk without difficulty. We look back on it with great pleasure! Highly recommended for anyone with kids!

One of the best experiences I had in Cappadocia, much more than a standard hike. Cannot recommend enough. As for Oscar - what a character and how he loves to hike.... for the first time I felt I wasn't being taken in by the whole tourist vibe and was connecting with the Turkey I was looking for.

We all (6 of us) had a fabulous time walking up through the red and rose valley in the evening with Penna Tours. Seeing the flora and geology, checking out the fairy chimneys and learning about who used them on the way. Our guide was easy going and very knowledgeable. Two of his friends came with us as well as Oscar the dog. We shared the track with some horse trekkers at times. We stopped for fresh orange juice on the way as well. We all made it comfortably and enjoyed the wine tasting at the top whilst we watched the sun set. A fitting end to a great day!

A must-do hike during your stay here in Göreme. Samil is a fantastic tour guide—he shares lots of information about the sites, is very easygoing and down to earth. Plus, he’s an excellent photographer! He brings his dog Oscar, who is the star of the hike and leads the way. Samil even got us the best orange juice at a café just before we watched an amazing sunset.

Great place for sunset, much loved by locals too, we went back twice. Recommended to reach it in advance so you can also go inside the valley, and then position yourself high to enjoy the sunset

The views and scenery were great. Unfortunately the "english language tour" had a non english speaking guide. He tried and had to use google translate to answer questions. There are muddy sections so good shoes are a must.
