Our guides definitely have their own personalities and stories, and that can be part of what makes a local tour special. But we also agree there needs to be a balance. Our guests came to experience Hawaiʻi — our beautiful island, culture, history, people, and the places you’re visiting. Personal political or social views should never become such a large part of the day that a guest feels uncomfortable or, as you described it, “trapped.” We also completely understand your point about having some quiet time. Sometimes part of experiencing Hawaiʻi is simply being able to look out the window, take in the scenery, and enjoy where you are. We will be sharing your feedback with the tour operator and guide because this is something they need to hear. We’re glad you were still able to appreciate the beauty of the island and our culture, but we’re sorry that the commentary took away from what should have been a much more enjoyable experience. There are several things you mentioned that we should take seriously. The pickup issue is especially frustrating, particularly since you had already confirmed the address with us ahead of time. We apologize for that. I’m also sorry that the tour itself did not give you the experience you were expecting. Our guides and drivers are representing Hawaiʻi while they have guests with them, and we agree that sharing the history, culture, and significance of the places you visit should be an important part of the day—not just getting everyone from stop to stop. Your comments about the lack of an introduction, the unused screen, the presentation of the information, and the transportation are all fair feedback. We will share this review with the operator so these concerns can be addressed with the team. We know that when someone spends an entire day of their vacation on a tour, they are trusting us to make that time worthwhile. We’re genuinely sorry that we missed the mark for you and your wife.
