We really enjoyed the self guided tour, it was my first time trying it and would do it again

The Tram way is a possibility is you have a free 4 hours. It’s worth going during the day and returning after sunset. A short trip, walk around the island and return.

Do not recommend! Not sure if this is a scam or just poorly managed, but the tour group never sent the code we needed to log into the “Pintours” app. Despite texts and calls to Pintours customer support from both myself and Viator, there was silence. We walked around Roosevelt Island on our own, having thrown away $50 or more.

Do not book this experience. This is a scam. The tram cart only cost $3. DO NOT BOOK. I went thinking there would be a tour no it's not a tour at all. The worker said it was a scam. Waste of money and still had to pay to get on.

I really enjoyed this self-guided tour. The tram ride itself gives you some incredible views of the East River and NYC, but the history and stories throughout the tour made the experience so much more interesting. I loved being able to explore at my own pace instead of being rushed along with a group. It’s a great experience for both visitors and New Yorkers who think they already know the city. I learned some really fascinating things about Roosevelt Island and its past, and the whole experience was easy, engaging, and well worth the price. Highly recommend adding this to your NYC itinerary!

Be ready to do lots of walking. Uber is expensive for just a mile, you are better taking the bus or subway, but there are almost none escalators. Plan to visit no more than 2 attractions per day. Guggenheim is a waste of money while they are doing construction to mid September. Most of people are in good physical shape, since they walk and climbs stairs so much.

I usually dislike tours - but we totally lost track of time! Robby is great.

The tram ride and visit to Roosevelt Island were nice for me. It was disappointing because the self-guided audio gave a lengthy advertisement at the beginning and didn't explain where to start. It is a small island, which is historically interesting but there was no public guide or such. I wound up buying a ticket to enter although I paid through the app because there was no one to help me access a ticket entry. It really is just another residential area with lots of apartment buildings. It was a pretty view but very confusing to understand how to organize my time there. YOu should go just for an easy tram ride and the view.
