Beautiful place and full of history, but really badly kept. The tombs are very ruined, in some cases you do not read the names; in the oldest part there are some in really desperate condition. Some funeral monuments are ruins and it is a real shame, because it is a very beautiful place.

Isola di San Michele è un luogo unico, ricco di storia e di grande fascino. Comprendo le sue osservazioni riguardo allo stato di conservazione di alcune aree, che purtroppo riflette anche le sfide legate alla gestione e alla manutenzione di un sito così complesso.

Interesting
I love walking through very old Cemeteries so had to tour this one. This one was very unusual and most were in wall crypts but most had flowers on the wall beside their names.

An excellent tour and something different
This was a great tour and just one water taxi stop from Venice. San Michele is the burial island of Venice. Our guide, Valerio, was able to speak about the history of the place as well as providing unique cultural insights. I recommend this tour for those who want to explore more than just the usual Venice tourist spots. Valerio is an excellent guide who lives locally and really knows his stuff.

We had a great experience with our tour guide Valerio. He is a local and really feels the city. He has a good knowledge and loads of hidden gems and tips for visiting Venice. I would recommend booking a tour with him 10/10. all the best Theresa and Gabriella

Cool ride
Cool and easy tour. Just a few minutes by boat from Venice, this cemetery occupies an entire island and is a great visit for those who like this type of attraction.

Interesting visit 5 minutes away by vaporetto
It is the island of the dead. In 1807 the French occupation decreed that it was unhealthy to bury corpses on dry land. The coffins are carried by boat (today you can see a funeral procession crossing the waters of the lagoon)
The monastery and the graves of Igor Stravinsky, Joseph Brodsky, Sergei Diaghilev, Ezra Pound, Luigi Nono, Christian Andreas Doppler, Franco Basaglia and Zoran Mušič are interesting.
5 minutes by vaporetto.

Recommended visit, as it is a unique place in Venice. There is no room for more tenants. That is why only people with deep roots in Venice are buried.

Cemetery visit / Venice
A place that we usually rarely visit but in Venice, it is worth stopping there as we do at the “Monumental Cemetery of Milan” or the “Pere Lachaise” in Paris

Serene and Spiritual
Words cannot do this justice. It was a truly moving experience, the weather was stunning (avoid on misty days) and you can absolutely do this as a stop off en route to Murano and Burano.

Cemetery Island & off the beaten track
You must have seen! We combined this tour with "away from the crowds" and Valerio showed us really great corners of Venice. We will come back! (and then certainly do a guided tour with Valerio👍- there is still a lot to discover)
