This was a fun and educational class! It takes place in his home and was very welcoming and clean. All of the food supplies were ready for the class and he did an excellent job of explaining how to cook the food and shared all of the recipes so I can recreate them at home. The food was amazing!

We took a cooking class with Silvestre, and it was incredible. The space was beautiful, and his teaching style was engaging and immersive. He has a wonderful way of explaining food in a truly sensory, memorable way. And the food was absolutely delicious. This experience was a definite highlight of our trip, and we can’t wait to come back and explore more of his offerings.

Silvestre was an incredible teacher for this cooking experience! He had everything prepared for us, from explaining the types of ingredients, having us try the various ingredients and elaborating on the process of salsas. Furthermore he also had us make our own sopes by hand or with the machine which was a fun learning experience! He also had fresh agua fresca for us throughout the evening. He truly went above and beyond as, we had to reschedule our initial cooking class due to our last minute illness. He was more than accommodating and a fun person to sit down with an eat!

If you're looking for an authentic and welcoming experience in Mérida, this is it! My sister and I booked a private session with Silvestre and were blown away by how thoughtful, engaging, and down-to-earth he was. I'm no chef (my sister has definitely made her own salsa before; me, not so much), but Silvestre was incredibly patient, encouraging, and great at breaking everything down in a way that felt relaxed and fun. I especially appreciated that Silvestre was attentive to our spice preferences, letting us customize things just to our liking. Beyond the cooking lesson, Silvestre was a delight too. The private format made it feel like hanging out with a local friend who just happens to be a fantastic host and salsa-making coach. Highly recommend this to small groups or anyone looking for a yummy way to connect with local culture. A+ across the board!
