Getting to visit Vesuvius and one of the archeological Pompeii sites in 1 day and not have to worry about logistics, tickets, or what am I looking at makes this tour perfect if your time and days are limited. Vesuvius is a moderate hike on uneven ground and you cover 570 ft in 1.24 miles 8.7% slope, but this is misleading as a majority of the gain is in the first 3/4s of a mile. It's a good workout and I wouldn't wear sandals, saw several individuals trip. Also, since you're at elevation, depending on the weather it can be cooler or hotter. It was overcast and breezy at the start, but hot and still at the rim. Watch the time and your pauses, 90 minutes round trip is what you get, and it takes about 30-35 minutes to get down. The audio guide is good and views fabulous. Mario was a fantastic tour guide providing a well paced narrative on the drive to Vesuvius and Pompeii. He provided not only the history of the area, but also explained what to look out for as you hiked up to the rim. He not only provided info about Vesuvius but also about the geological features of the Naples area. If you have hiking poles, good idea to bring/use them😉. After Vesuvius it's off to a 1 hour lunch in Pompeii. Lunch is on your own and in one direction is street food and tourist restaurants and in the other there's Varnelli. Tell them your with Askos and you'll be done in an hour. The Risotto Seafood, and Seared Octopus slider were fantastic! Alfredo was the archeological tour guide for the Pompeii archeological site and did a superb job!! He answered everyone's question, kept a nice pace, and provided information on the structures, reasons for the layout of the buildings, squares and pointed out unique features: the graffiti stone, reason beds were small, different types of frescoes, frescoes which served as menu, lead pipes, etc. He used humor expertly and painted a good picture of what Pompeii must have been like. I will take this tour again when I come with family.

Mario, tour guide, was fabulous. He provided great information, not only about Vesuvius, but also about the geological features that make up the greater Naples area. He paced the narrative so it wasn't information overload. Be ready for a moderate incline hike on uneven ground at Vesuvius. The elevation gain is 570ft over 1.24 miles. Really good workout. The audio guide was good and views fantastic. Since you're going up in elevation, depending on weather, it will be hotter or cooler on the trail and at the rim. It was quite breezy at the start, and overcast. However, clouds broke up, breeze stopped and it was warm at rim. Do pace yourself, however don't pause to long on the trail as you have about 90 minutes. It was then off to lunch, which is on your own. 1 hour for lunch. There's usual street food and touristy restaurants in one direction and a good restaurant in the other "Varnelli" and if you tell them your with Askos tour, they'll get you out in an hour. It was enough time for Seafood Risotto and Seared Octopus starter, great tasting! Then it's off to the archeological Pompeii site. Having an archeological tour guide was fantastic as was the provided radio airbuds. Didn't have to worry about not hearing. Alfredo was fantastic, he took the time to answer everyone's question, explain not only the history, but also nuanced items: lead pipes used for water, why beds so small 🫣, graffiti corner🤭, etc.. He set an easy pace. Would definitely recommend this tour if you want to maximize your time and not have to worry about logistics.

A fantastic day! Our guide Mario and the guide in Pompei were extremely knowledgeable, adding extra information and detail to the tour. I would definitely recommend this tour and I would not normally suggest a guided tour. In reality you could spend all day at Pompei, the tour gives you a taste of the highlights and leaves you wanting to return to explore more.

I'll start off by saying the tour guides where great/knowledgeable and the even the bus driver was great. The only thing I noticed was that the description listed it as a maximum group size of 17, but our group size was 25. This only posed two problems. If you ended up in the back of the group at Pompeii you would loose connection to the guide missing out on some information. As well the bus only seats 25 so there is a chance of having to split up if you where at the back of the line. Also Pompeii is larger to be expected. The 2.5 hour tour gets you to the highlights, 2 - 3 core ruins with some info in-between. 4 - 6 hours would get you to most/all of the main ruins. A full day is need to see everything. If you have the time I would recommend doing Vesuvius and Pompeii as seperate day trips.

Well organised tour, Luna was our guide and she was friendly & provided a good level of information, Yolanda was the guide at Pompeii and was also very good. Would recommend this tour, great day.

The tour guide Mario was very knowledgeable and accommodating. There was a 30 delay leaving after a long hot day. Lunch at a mall is appalling and unacceptable despite repeated feedback to the tour company. In spite of this, they refuses to change. Totally cast a very negative image of the tour!!

Excellent excursion. Exactly as described. You have two guides: the first accompanied you to the start of the the Vesuvius hike and afterwards until you enter the Pompei ruins. The Pompei guide takes over after lunch. Very good hike up Vesuvius. Audioguide provided interesting information. Tour guide at Pompei also was excellent. A couple notes: the time allowed at Vesuvius should be 15-30 minutes longer. .We are strong hikers but the time to take in the views felt rushed; slower hikers may have trouble completing it on time. Also, you are given one hour free time between Vesuvius and Pompei for lunch on your own. However, the guide put on a very hard sell for one particular restaurant which he then lead most of the group to, and disparaged all the other restaurants in the area as tourist traps. We disregarded the pressure and had a wonderful and less expensive lunch at one of the other restaurants.

Mario was awesome! He educated the group on Mt Vesuvio while on the bus ride up. Then handed us off to Ella, the archeologist/guide for Pompei. She was a delight as well. Very much worth the tour price!

This trip was well organised with Mario as a very informative guide & an experienced archeologist for the Pompeii component who also provided great insight. We were fortunate to have great weather which provided fantastic views from Mount Vesuvius.
