Promised a guide and entrance fees paid. When the driver picked us up, I asked if we would meet the guide at the site. He said his wife was the guide, but she was sick so he was the driver/guide. “Are you a licensed guide?” After blustering about how taking people places made him a a guide, he finally admitted he was not a licensed guide. This is important because licensed guides can enter tourist sites and tell their clients what they’re seeing. He told us other licensed guides had gotten mad at him because he had gone in and tried to do that. So he wouldn’t be doing that on our trip. Entrance fees paid? He gave me a link to buy the tickets for ourselves. This was specifically stated in their advo. That the tickets would be provided. But we had to buy them. At the Alcázar he walked us to the entrance and said he would wait for us at the car park. So we entered and saw the castle with no guide or information about why it was a UNESCO world Heritage site. During the trip, he offered very little information about what we were seeing, I had to ask him questions about why something was there, why it was important. Sometimes he had an answer often and he didn’t. When I asked why the castle was important, he said all the kings and queens were there and that it was used in a Disney film. Nothing about the fact that Isabella and Ferdinand lived there and that is where Christopher Columbus came to petition for money for his exploration. After the tour I contacted Viator and told them about what happened. They called the driver and the driver said we were difficult people. I asked Viator to confirm he was really a licensed guide. They refused to do that. I asked them about the money we had to pay for tickets and they refused to acknowledge that. Basically, they said too bad. Shame on you Viator. I also learned that this trip would cost about $450. Viator charged us a little over $1100. That is a huge markup. We did not get anything near that value on this trip. One more thing, we booked a trip the day before with Viator and had a very good day with a licensed guide and a driver to Toledo. After our trip, that driver told us we were “ lovely people to work with”. How did we go in one day from being lovely people to really difficult? There is more I could relate, but these are the salient facts. Don’t Trust Viator.

The private day trip to Ávila and Segovia was absolutly amazing and totally worth it! Our guide was very friendly and knew so much about the history of both cities. The walls of Ávila and the castle in Segovia were super beautifull and really impressive. Everything was well organized and the trip felt relaxed, not rushed at all. I would definitely recommend this tour if you are visiting Madrid and wanna see something special!

Ávila’s medieval walls were seriously impressive, and the guide explained the history in a really easy-to-follow way. Segovia was just as amazing, especially seeing the Roman aqueduct up close and visiting the Alcázar. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, which made the whole tour feel more personal. The schedule was well balanced, with enough free time to explore, take photos, and grab some local food. Overall, it was a great day trip and I’d defintely recommend it to anyone visiting Madrid

Ávila was peaceful and full of charm , and the old walls and the cathedral were beautiful. Segovia was even more amazing than we expected, especially the aqueduct and the castle. Our guide made the history come alive with interesting stories. It was a well-organized and relaxing tour, perfect for anyone who wants to see more than just Madrid.

Segovia was my favorite part. The Roman aqueduct is wild , like, how is it still standing after 2,000 years? The whole city has this old-world vibe, but it’s full of life. Also, try the cochinillo (roast suckling pig) , totally worth it
