佐賀県伊万里町の山間部に隠れた陶芸の里がある。陶芸愛好家以外には知らない人が少ないほどの逸品です。これらの人々にとって、この場所はとても平和で静かで、時にはタイムスリップしたかのような感覚に陥るため、第 7 の天国です。 「山の中の大きな川」という意味の大川内山は、21世紀に設計された場所とは思えません。田舎のこの地域では時間の流れがとても遅く、半日でも日常を忘れてタイムスリップしたような気分になれる場所です。

This full day excursion was a true highlight of our 5 week vacation to explore Japan. Nagasaki was so much better than our visit to Hiroshima. And the birthplace of Japan’s ceramics in the Sega, Arita and Imari area is not to be missed for art and culture. I bought several gifts that were unique, beautiful and reasonable. This tour company went above and beyond all of our expectations, and were willing to taylor several aspects of the stated itinerary to our interests and time constraints. Ask for Shannon as your guide. He is such a nice man with a wealth of knowledge and perfect English. I wish I could give more stars.

This tour is spectacular. The drive to the birth place of Japanese ceramics is very pretty and going to see and or purchase high quality ceramics is very special. Be prepared to come with extra room in your suitcase. Shannon, our guide is beyond top notch. If I could give unlimited stars, I absolutely would. If you are fortunate enough to tour with him I promise you will have a great experience and will want to make additional tours with him. He is a fantastic guide and a genuine person. His English is perfect.

This was a great tour to go on. It was a long ride to our destinations, so it was advantageous to have a personal guide drive us there. It saved us time and the confusion of dealing with the transit system. During the ride, we learned about the history and culture of the area while viewing the sites along the way. We visited several sites known for their porcelain, from high end artistry to everyday ceramic ware. Our guide, Shannon Lefebvre, was excellent, escorting us around the area, informing us about local customs and beliefs. We also stopped for some tea at a quaint tea shop, being a nice cultural end to the tour. I recommend this individualized tour as it is relaxing, customized to our interests and needs, informative and entertaining with a guide like Shannon. Anyone interested in pottery, whether for its cultural history or just for the beauty and functional use of it, would enjoy this tour.

This was an amazing experience. It was picked as part of my research on Japan several months earlier to tie our trip in with our 18th wedding anniversary (porcelain). Sadly we had to postpone for much of 2025 while my wife underwent treatment for cancer. Throughout that time Shannon (who runs this tour was really supportive and checked in so he could reschedule us the moment we knew when we could travel. He went out of his way to make this happen for us; including doing the entire trip backwards to accommodate our schedule. It is an amazing experience that shows a side of Japan rarely explored by foreigners. It is a great way to see out of the way places and the real Japan: to touch its history, travel slowly, and immerse yourself in its culture without crowds or rush. If you love history, travel, tea, porcelain, art, and/or architecture then this tour is a must do! If possible, I would give it 7 stars, so if you're looking to travel Japan, make sure you add this tour to your itinerary!!!

Shannon became a treasured friend during our travels to Japan. We spent 2 days with Shannon. He made sure that the 10 of us traveling together were well taken care of with drinks, snacks, and wonderful stories. It was quite hot and humid during our trip so that his thoughtfulness was much appreciated. Shannon is quite knowledgeable about the history of Japan...... both political, historical and cultural changes. Shannon returned emails promptly so that communication regarding the group's needs or questions were never left unanswered. You kept me on my toes with incredible knowledge about Japan that most people don't know about, however there was a lot of light hearted banter and playfulness as well, so the balance was just perfect. My husband and I had a lovely day with Shannon. He was great from even before we met, and worked with us beforehand to accommodate our schedule and location, which worked out really well for all of us! He even gave advice for things to do in Nagasaki City the day before. He's knowledgeable about ceramics and green tea and took us to some really great places, but also shared about his experience living in Japan in between, which I also really appreciated. Shannon really took care of us the whole day and was mindful of anything we might need--food and drink, snacks, bathroom breaks. This tour really was a highlight of our trip to Japan, and it was especially nice that Shannon is fluent in both Japanese and English.
