Wonderful day, filled with wonderful scenery, boutique wineries, delicious locally sourced food & Aarons incredible wealth of knowledge

We went to 3 boutique wineries chosen by the driver-tour guide. The first was a husband-and-wife operated winery, and their wines were not very good. The other 2 wineries were interesting but not outstanding. But the tour guide was very knowledgeable about the region and gave us a good explanation of the area. Worth a try.

This trip was cancelled/denied by the tour company in February. Trip Advisor does not keep track of the tours! I don't know if Trip Advisor or Chef's tour is the problem but I dod NOT go!

Aaron was very welcoming informative, engaging on the tour His knowledge of food and wine was exceptional We thoroughly enjoyed our 6 hour tour to Martinborough and the wineries we went to and the lunch at Poppies our private tour was great value for money. Fantastic day - 3 wineries for tastings in Martinborough with a great lunch at one of them . Aaron was very informative and nothing was too much trouble . Even did some shopping in Greytown before heading home .

What a wonderful day our small group of two couples had with Aaron during our port stop in Wellington. We were interested in heading out to wine country, but were cautious because of the arrival and departure schedule of our cruise ship. We found Aaron‘s tour, Listed as normally starting at 10 AM. We started a correspondence. He was quite happy to adjust the schedule and also the itineraries to meet our needs. Aaron picked us up right at the cruise ship, which was pretty great considering not everyone could get into the cruise port as you often need to take a shuttle to get from the ship to the exterior port perimeter. He started with us at 9 AM. We were aware that the wineries up in Martinsborough do not open until 11 AM so he had suggested we visit the Olea olive oil estate first from 10 until 11 and then proceed with the winery tastings and lunch. I get ahead of myself though. Once the four of us were in his car, as we started to drive, Aaron proved to be a rolling encyclopedia of history, culture, and knowledge of the entire area and shared so much. We made a stop at a beautiful overlook along the way. Aaron is also a chef, so some discussion even involved a suggestion to roast your garlic cloves first when you’re preparing your own hummus, which my husband likes to do and is often complemented about how great his hummus is. He will incorporate Aaron suggestion to roast the garlic first for the next batch. So stop number one Olea olive oil estate was just lovely with the owners operators Charles and Kay. They happily showed us around. They have 2000 olive trees and a very special olive press so special that other growers Also bring olives to Olea to have them pressed there. We had a few tastings of their award winning oils. The next stop was the Schubert Vineyard and winery. They had a little table set up up for us to try whites, rose and reds and learn about each. Their Pinot noir was our favorite red of the day. Nearby was the main event at the Luna winery and their cellar door restaurant. A beautiful setting with a possibility for outdoor patio dining or indoor. We started with our indoor winetasting - their Chardonnay was a masterpiece. You must understand that at home I’ll prefer very buttery very oakey Chardonnays but I know they are not to everyone’s taste. At Luna the Chardonnay certainly has a buttery feel and Oaky taste at just the right balance, enough for someone like me, but also light enough that others could enjoy it as well. Our patio luncheon featured in Asian fusion menu with mushroom or beef BAO‘s, and various greens with great spices, sugar peas, green beans, cucumbers. Not to forget the done just right french fries. We were sorry to leave the lovely environment. So we had a rolling ride back home meaning there are beautiful hills that you will be going up and down enjoying the views. Aaron deposited us right at the cruise ship gangplank as we left feeling we had a new friend here in Wellington.
