Great experience

Excellent experience! The guide, Erika, did an amazing job! She explained what to expect for each part of the trip, was very knowledgeable about Tulum, and was extremely kind and helpful when I experienced a minor injury. We spent about an hour at Tulum, hearing about its history and taking in the beautiful sights - with plenty of time for photos. The Mayan village experience was fun, but swimming in the cenote was definitely a highlight of the trip!

Erika is best guide ever

Erika was terrific and a great guide. Only drawback was the pickup, confirmation told me 700 am and nobody arrived until 740. Other than that, the tour was awesome

Loved it!

Wonderful experience with Erick, who knows the region and the country. He made me love and appreciate the beauty of the ruins of Tulum as well as our excursion to the Xenote Jaguar! Super caring and incredibly kind! Thanks also to Gabriel the driver for coming so early to pick me up!

Bait and switch pricing

We incurred additional charges ($100) after purchase price of $156! Additional charges were collected on the van at time of pick-up, cash only. Traveling on a long weekend, with no time to find a substitute we had no option but to pay up. Two customer service representatives actually defended the practice. They did not regard the purchase contract as binding. The trip was managed by Viatour. The extra charge is being contested. It will ever stand the test of impartial review. Be careful!

Overall good tour

It was good but didn't know we could leave bag in shuttle. I would've brought more food and water, not worried that it would melt. Also, tulum ruins visit was a bit too long because it was so hot outside. Cenote was excellent, the tortilla snack and jamaica was good.

Incredible Tour with a Knowledgeable Guide

Our tour to the Tulum ruins, Mayan jungle village, and cenote was one of the highlights of our trip! Our guide, Ray, was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Mayan culture and history. He explained the ruins in great detail and made the experience much more meaningful. He also gave us free time to explore Tulum on our own, which we really appreciated. One of the best parts of the tour was arriving at the ruins before the large crowds showed up. We were able to get in quickly without long lines, which made the experience much more enjoyable. After Tulum, we visited a Mayan village where we learned about local traditions, made tortillas, and enjoyed hibiscus tea and fresh fruit. It was such an authentic and interesting experience. We finished the day with a refreshing swim in the village cenote, which was absolutely beautiful. Overall, this was an amazing experience from start to finish, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Great ancient ruins and Mayan culture

The trip was excellent. Pick up was 25 minutes late but kept informed of delay. The guide Anita was excellent, full of facts and despite the fact the coach was half English and half French kept everyone informed. At Tulum we were guided around the main sites and given an hour on our own to explore. Free tequila tasting at the end although very small! The visit to the Mayan village was instructional and we got to make some traditional flat bread. Optional Cenote swim and all who took part enjoyed swimming. Return to hotel by 4 o’clock so 9 hours in total. Can’t leave this without mentioning our driver Ricardo, very safe driving and on hand for refreshments. 10/10

WARNING TO FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN

Our experience with this tour company was extremely disappointing, and I would strongly encourage families to think twice before booking. We were picked up early in the morning with our children, including an infant. Before entering Tulum, we stopped briefly to get food because our children were hungry. We specifically asked the tour guide if we could enter after we finished eating, and according to our understanding, he told us yes. After we finished eating, we attempted to enter and were told we could not do so without a ticket. Later, the company claimed that we had chosen not to participate in the tour. That is simply not true. We paid for this excursion because we wanted to see Tulum. At no point did we tell anyone that we no longer wished to go. The most upsetting part of this experience was what happened next. Because of what appears to have been a misunderstanding, our family—including our infant child—was left approximately two hours from our resort with no transportation back. Instead of helping resolve the situation or offering assistance, we were left to figure out how to get back on our own and pay the additional transportation costs ourselves. A company's character is revealed when something goes wrong. When our family, including an infant, was stranded two hours from our resort, this company chose to protect itself rather than help its customers. The most frustrating part was not the misunderstanding itself—it was the company's refusal to take responsibility once the misunderstanding became clear. Their position was that the guide believed we did not want to continue the tour, despite the fact that we specifically asked if we could enter after eating and despite the fact that we had paid for the excursion because we wanted to visit Tulum. To make matters worse, we were given an ultimatum on the bus: pay the remaining balance immediately or get off the bus. As tourists traveling with young children in a foreign country, that was an uncomfortable and stressful position to be placed in. The company eventually refunded the cost of the tour, which I appreciate. However, they refused to reimburse the 2,100 pesos we had to spend on transportation because of the situation. Rather than acknowledging that a misunderstanding had occurred and working toward a fair resolution, they chose to place all responsibility on the customer. At the end of the day, mistakes happen. Tour guides are human and misunderstandings occur. What separates a good company from a bad one is how they respond when those mistakes affect paying customers. In our case, the company refused to take ownership, refused to make us whole, and left a family with young children to deal with the consequences on their own. If you are traveling with children, especially young children, I would strongly recommend considering other options. Based on our experience, if there is any misunderstanding or issue during your tour, do not assume the company will work with you to find a reasonable solution. We came to Mexico excited to create memories with our family. Instead, this tour became one of the most stressful and disappointing experiences of our entire trip. Families deserve better.

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We have conducted a thorough review of the situation with the tour guide who operated your excursion that day. First of all, we would like to clarify that the guide assigned to your tour is a federally licensed archaeological guide with more than five years of experience conducting this excursion and an excellent professional record. During the transportation to Tulum, the guide explained the itinerary in detail, including the fact that the first activity of the day would be the guided visit of the Tulum archaeological site. Upon arrival, this information was reiterated to the entire group before the visit began. At that time, the guide distributed the required wristbands and access credentials for the archaeological zone, including the CONANP protected area wristband and the Parque del Jaguar admission wristband, which are necessary to enter the site. The entire group proceeded with the guided visit according to the itinerary that had been explained. According to the guide's report, you communicated your intention not to participate in the guided visit at that time. The guide therefore understood that you had decided to skip this portion of the excursion. No other participants reported any confusion regarding the itinerary, and the remainder of the group completed the visit as scheduled. It is important to note that this is a shared group excursion. The itinerary and timing communicated to all participants must be respected so that every guest receives the experience that was contracted. For this reason, once the archaeological visit concluded, the group proceeded to the second activity of the day, the visit to the Maya community, as originally scheduled. At that point, you requested to visit the archaeological site. However, the guide explained that the group could not delay the remainder of the itinerary in order to accommodate an individual visit, as doing so would have negatively affected all other guests. Nevertheless, the guide offered a reasonable solution by continuing with the tour and waiving the portion of the balance corresponding to the archaeological site admission fees. The guide also explained that the excursion you had booked still included the visit to the Maya community and the return transportation to your hotel. Unfortunately, you decided not to participate in the second activity and chose not to continue with the excursion. We would also like to clarify that the outstanding balance of USD 150 for the excursion was never paid to the guide. Subsequently, the seller authorized a refund of the amount that had already been prepaid. As a result, your family has received a full refund for an excursion for which transportation to the destination was provided and admission wristbands had already been purchased and allocated. While we respect your decision to discontinue the tour, we cannot agree that the taxi expense should be reimbursed. Return transportation remained available as part of the excursion, and you could have continued participating in the remaining activities before returning to your hotel with the group. The decision to leave the excursion early and arrange private transportation was made independently and was not required by us. We are also attaching the feedback forms from the other three bookings that participated in the excursion that day. We believe these comments provide additional context and demonstrate that the tour was successfully delivered and enjoyed by the other participants. The evaluations received were excellent and reflect the quality of both the tour experience and the service provided throughout the day. After carefully reviewing all facts and circumstances, we consider that the services contracted were made available and offered throughout the day, but were declined on two separate occasions. For this reason, and considering that a full refund of the excursion has already been authorized, we are unable to approve any additional reimbursement request related to private transportation. We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations and appreciate the opportunity to clarify the events that occurred.

Had a blast with the family

We had a great time exploring the Mayan ruins, then headed to the village and got a taste of Mayan culture. We swim in the beautiful cenote. Everyone had a blast. Bring cash for tips!
