We had a fun session with Rory as he shared stories about the history of spying and deception and the protection of state secrets. We learned more about the history of the espionage agencies in the UK and key players who raised the alarm or who were supporting foreign interests. Learning about MI5 and MI6 key moments in protecting this country’s security and how this led to the need to respond, review and make changes showed how dynamic and realistic these agencies really are. As we walked about and saw key places and statues, we appreciated how interconnected these agencies and the government really are. The attitude of giving one’s life for one’s country is from another time and yet these were the stories of spies we appreciated and that touched us. We enjoyed our time together very much! Thank you!

The Changing World of Spying

A most enjoyable tour.
Very interesting. I learned a lot about spy techniques of yesteryear and a lot about James Bond films that I never knew. Also, Eian (tour guide)was very knowledgeable, which you would expect, but he was also very personable. I felt like I was on the tour with a good friend. He didn’t rush us, and at the end of the tour, he escorted us to the underground to make sure we got on the right train. Exceptional service.

Fascinating look at London’s history of intrigue
This tour was amazing! Michael, our tour guide, has a wealth of knowledge about all things related to London’s history of intrigue. He shared some very interesting stories and the places in London connected to them. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I spy with my little eye....
We took this tour with Chris in January whilst we were visiting after Christmas. The tour is really informative, full of great facts and stories, and even included some locations from the James Bond franchise. It was great hearing the history of the British Secret Services and their exploits during the Second World War and The Cold War. We also had no idea that Roald Dalh was a spy and had helped write the Bond films. We'll be back for the Bond Tour next time.
