From start to finish, our day with Antonino was an absolute pleasure. Antonino was highly knowledgeable, engaging and enthusiastic: he made us feel totally at ease as we were treated to an intimate walk through history. The tour was well-paced, with just the right amount of time at each location. Antonino is a consummate professional, and this experience was the highlight of our time in Italy; we give him our highest recommendation.

The highlight of the tour of Pompeii was the introduction to the many recently opened buildings and the rooms in them. I went many years ago with my partner and it was a much smaller area open for tourists to visit. So, having Tony as a guide was invaluable to help us from getting lost in all the new space, especially with a family in tow. He answered all our questions with patience and authority. An unexpected highlight was the visit to Herculaneum beforehand, which was interesting and proved a useful contrast to Pompeii, smaller and less diverse (mostly houses of rich people). It put Pompeii in perspective and fed the imagination about what it was like in those days. Very happy to finish with the walk in the national park area up to the volcano and be able to look inside it. Fantastic view from the top over Naples and the Bay. A great experience for all of us, and very informative. Thanks a lot to our guide, Antonino (Tony).

An Amazing Day at Herculaneum, Pompeii & Mt. Vesuvius with Antonio! From the moment he picked us up at our hotel, he began weaving fascinating stories about the area and Mt. Vesuvius. Our entire family was mesmerized before we even arrived at our first stop. We started at Herculaneum, which was incredible and probably my favorite part of the entire trip. The preservation is remarkable, and seeing the artifacts, jewelry, furniture, and everyday items was fascinating, so many things looked surprisingly modern. Next was Pompeii, which was equally awe-inspiring. It is enormous and was very crowded, but Antonio was fantastic at navigating us away from the crowds while making sure we saw all the highlights. We ended the day by climbing Mt. Vesuvius, which was challenging but so much fun and the perfect way to finish the experience. I highly recommend this tour. My husband and our three sons, ages 22, 20, and 16, all loved it. Antonio made the history come alive and turned an already incredible itinerary into one of the most memorable days of our trip to Italy!

My family and I had the BEST experience with our tour with “A Drive Into the Blue”. Our tour guide, Antonino (Tony) was friendly, prompt, and very communicative (even the day before our tour). He gave us an amazing history lesson around what we were going to see, worked with our timeline as we needed to adjust/grab lunch earlier than we had initially planned, offered to take pictures of us in front of neat camera shots, and even helped us navigate tough areas that were difficult for the elderly people in our group. Tony was very knowledgeable about the history/area and made you think he was there during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. At times, Tony even used a video screen in his van to explain historical subjects being discussed. This was probably the best guide we’ve ever been associated with! The tour itself was amazing – it was really neat to see not only two of the cities that Mount Vesuvius’ eruption impacted, but to actually get the chance to climb Mount Vesuvius and look down into the crater itself! I would highly recommend this tour, and I can’t say enough great things about our tour guide, Tony!

We had an amazing day visiting Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Mount Vesuvius with Antonino. From the moment he picked us up at our hotel, everything was easy and stress-free. Antonino knows these sites incredibly well, but what really stood out was how great he was with our 8-year-old daughter. He kept her engaged the whole day, which honestly surprised us considering how much history we covered! He made everything fun and interesting for her while still giving us plenty of information. He also paid attention to all the little things. There was always cold water waiting for us when we got back to the van, which was much appreciated in the heat. He kept candies in the van for our daughter throughout the day, and at the end of the tour he gave her the whole bag. Such a small gesture, but it absolutely made her day, and she's still talking about it. This ended up being one of our favorite experiences in Italy. If you're thinking about doing Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Vesuvius, I'd highly recommend booking with Antonino. We'd gladly tour with him again.

Antonino was a wonderful guide for our day. He made sure to customize the day to our liking, and the information he presented was helpful, interesting, and accurate. As we started the tour, we disclosed our prior knowledge of the Latin language and classical world, and he easily adjusted what he spoke about and what he showed us/emphasized at each of the sites to match our knowledge. He made the sites interesting for our teenage sons and actively and warmly engaged them in what we were seeing. He provided as many water bottles as we wanted in the unrelenting July heat and he recommended a restaurant where we could eat a quick, casual lunch before continuing the tour. Repetition helps! I chose to repeat the same experience I had 3 years ago precisely to share the emotions and sensations with my sister and my nieces and nephews as well. Antonino is a constant confirmation; after so much time, I met him again with pleasure and found the same polite, kind, cultured, and passionate person from 3 years ago.
