We had an amazing trip with Oropopo. We got to see the beautiful view of the volcano, eat a traditional lunch and the guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He knew I wanted to see the local birds and he was excited to point them out to me. We saw so many hummingbirds! We got to all the rainforest animals at Guayobo; monkies, leaf cutting ants, and plants and mushrooms and lots of birds.

Disappointed
Cancelled our reservation less than 24 hours before our trip.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re truly sorry we were not able to operate your tour as planned.
This was a very unusual situation. Your reservation was made less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time, and shortly before the experience our assigned guide had an unexpected accident. We tried to reach you through the available channels to look for possible solutions, but unfortunately we were not able to get a response in time.
Since we could not responsibly operate the tour as planned, we made the decision to cancel and issue a full refund. We understand this was disappointing, and we’re sorry your plans were affected.
Last-minute cancellations are not how we aim to operate, and we always do everything possible to protect our guests’ experience, especially when unexpected emergencies happen.

Between Cartago Volcanos
Rigo was our tour guide. There was just my husband and myself. I enjoyed talking with Rigo and finding out more about Costa Rica. He was very knowledgeable about Irazu volcano, Orsi valley and Guayabo monument. The lunch was great. Just a great day!

I took the fantastic mushroom tour in Prussia, on the foothills of the Irazu Volcano
Luis and André, the guides, are very attentive and passionate about what they do. They have great knowledge about mushrooms and other related topics, and explain very clearly. The place is beautiful, and we managed to see about 40 different species of fungi.

Interesting tour combining nature and culture
The tour guide, Rigo, was passionate about the wonders of the natural world, which made the tour fun and exciting. He was quite knowledgeable about ecosystems, and the interactions between plants and animals. The fauna we saw included leafcutter ants, a sloth, morpho butterflies, and several types of birds. The drive through the countryside was relaxing. Unfortunately, it was a cloudy day, so there was limited visibility of the volcanoes, although I briefly saw the central crater of Irazú volcano. Visiting Guayabo monument is much more interesting with a guide since the site has minimal informational signage. I appreciated the small size of the tour group—I was the only person on the tour that day—since it allowed for a more personalized experience.

High view of Costa Rica
Our tour guide, Eduardo, picked us up at our hotel and gave us a wonderful tour of beautiful views from backroads along the way to Guayama and volcanoes. Eduardo was very informative and took great care of us all day. We stopped for a delicious lunch at a spot that had animals and gardens and, of course views. At the Guayama site we not only saw the ruins but got to experience wildlife including a sloth climbing along a branch that Eduardo video recorded and shared with us. He also does wildlife photography so this was a great opportunity for us. If you’re looking for a way to see the beauty and history of Costa Rica, sign up and ask for Eduardo!

Fabulous tour
Rigo, my guide, made this tour special by sharing his passion for Costa Rican wildlife. He offered various options throughout the day and answered all my questions about life in Costa Rica. Highlights were walking inside a volcano, seeing and hearing a wide variety of birds and exploring a range of environments. I absolutely loved this tour and would highly recommend it.

The description of this...
The description of this day trip is accurate, there is little to add. We happened to have rain all day, thus we missed most of the views, unfortunately. The lunch was good, I and my wife liked it. The trip was relaxed and I guess we might have seen way more than we did if the weather had been better.

Stunning views, great food and a very welcome serving of history and culture
Rigo was a fantastic guide. Travelling with my daughter, who is herself an animal researcher, it was great to discover our guide was just the same and so shared so much in outlook and interest. We got stunning views of the Irazu volcano and a short, but fun challenging hike at 3300m. The tour continued with a stunning drive around the surrounding mountain (even if it was mostly cloud covered on our day) and a visit to a great traditional Costa Rican restaurant. The tour finished with a view of impressively well-preserved archeological remains I knew nothing about. Learning about precolombian Costa Rica was high on my list so this was a real bonus. Overall we chose this tour for two reasons: it felt like something that avoided heavy tourist traffic and mixed beauty with culture and nature. It did all that. The company behind these tours seems like a very worthwhile organisation that tries to approach tourism with an informed focus on nature and culture while off the beaten path.
