⭐ 1/5 — Very bad experience with the transportation and the staff The experience with Bay Island Cruises was very unpleasant, specifically because of the treatment and the lack of consideration from the driver and the guide during the transfer to Isla Tortuga. The driver was Mario and the guide was Mauricio. During the trip, we expressly requested that they allow us to make a stop to use the restroom. Despite having requested it, they made us wait approximately 20 additional minutes before allowing us to get off. I consider it completely unnecessary and disrespectful to make passengers wait when they are requesting something as basic as using a restroom. But the situation got worse afterward. Finally, they allowed us to get off and we went to the restroom. Meanwhile, the guide Mauricio and the driver Mario started eating outside the bus. We requested that they open the unit again so we could sit down and wait inside while they finished eating. They refused to open the bus and made us wait outside until they finished eating. I find it incredible that, after having been waiting to be able to use the restroom, we passengers had to remain outside the bus simply because the driver and the guide were eating and did not want to allow us to return to our seats. It is one thing for there to be delays or for the itinerary to have certain stops; it is something very different to have a lack of consideration toward passengers and for the staff to prioritize their comfort over a basic need of those of us who pay for the service. Isla Tortuga may be very beautiful, but a tourist excursion should not justify this type of treatment. Bay Island Cruises should train its transport staff and guides much better in customer service and, above all, in common sense and consideration toward passengers. I would not recommend this experience while the company allows this type of behavior from its staff.

They arrived at the hotel very punctually, took us in an air-conditioned bus (good driver), and made the rounds to pick up the people. They gave us a lunch that included a sandwich, apple, juice, and some cookies. We arrived at the dock where we boarded the catamaran heading to Tortuga Island, we had very good weather where we were able to see turtles and on the way back dolphins. We did the snorkeling (the activity is not included so they charge extra). The reef is recovering so there is little marine life, but you can appreciate the fish, sea urchins, and corals. Arriving at the Island, they have their own space so there are enough lounge chairs and they have their own bathrooms (note: there are no showers on the island so you have to wait to get on the catamaran where they have the showers). The food they served us was plentiful (two salads, rice, vegetables, chicken, and grilled fish, unlimited drinks), the service makes it pleasant with music and the staff's service, even though there were too many people they tried to attend to everyone. During the catamaran trip they give you drinks and food (coffee, beer, sodas, water, margaritas, rum punch, slices of watermelon and pineapple, ceviche, banana bread). It was well organized and it is clear to me that it is complicated to organize so many people of different nationalities, values, and ways of being, which is why I thank our guide who was very kind throughout the tour and tried to give us attention, thank you very much.

We went from San Jose, yes it is a bit far. But honestly it is worth spending a while on the beach with the calm water, the transfer from the port to the island is long, however you do not notice the time because on the catamaran they are very attentive with fruit and drinks on the way. The only bad thing in particular for women is that there are no showers on the island, the catamaran has showers and changing rooms, it is something that helps so you do not return all damp from the beach. In general good 👌🏽

First problem, they told us to be in the lobby by 5a.m. Security told me “ that’s strange, they usually show up at 5:45”. I showed him my confirmation. They arrived at 6:15.am. We finally get to the boat, everything seems to be going ok. For breakfast it’s a a ham and cheese sandwich. Very basic. But at least the staff on the boat was very attentive and polite. When we got to the beach we got to hang out, it was area for our group to swim and they had beach chairs for us. Lunch was dry and bland. Towards the end, I was going to go to the showers to take the sand off and get dressed, I was told it was a bathroom only to wait till we get to shore where the showers are located. When we get to shore, I found out that they charge you to use the showers. HOW DO THEY CHARD YOU TO RINSE OFF??!!! And when I finally was just going to pay, the driver and staff tells me we’re leaving now you have to get in the bus.. so I had to spend approximately 4 hours with my crotch full of sand and a wet bathing suit. My skin was soooooo irritated when I got back to the hotel , I was contemplating on going to the doctor if my skin didn’t feel better my the morning. I wouldn’t recommend this tour, maybe book with a different company maybe better experience.

The Best experience we could have! Wonderful time at the catamaran and in the Island! The guide so professional and kind! We had the Best Day in our lives!

Excellent attention, we went yesterday, May 31, and Michael, our guide, was very attentive and helpful. The attention from the entire crew was excellent; we ate and drank deliciously. I would return again, a thousand thanks for a great Sunday with my friends.

The beach was so beautiful and serene. The crew was incredibly attentive and our tour guide, Mari, was extremely helpful! There was good music, the fruit was delicious, and the drinks were always coming. The lunch was more on the bland side, but otherwise, our experience was wonderful :)

It was great to experience the Pacific Cast & this is an easy way of doing it. However it is a long day out & at £125 not cheap. The boat trip itself was excellent with lots of fresh fruit, coffee & cocktails provided. Tortuga Island is beautiful with a lovely beach & wildlife. Do the walking trail as it is well worthwhile.

Excellent from pickup at our hotel to drop off. Our tour guide Brian and our bus driver were great. The crew on the catamaran were just wonderful. Tortuga was beautiful. We had our own chairs, a delicious lunch, many activities to choose from or just relax on the beach and an overall amazing experience from start to finish. Would definitely suggest doing this adventure.. just plan for a fun, adventure and long day. 🥰
