Fabulous experience and a “must do” when you’re in Killarney. The boat ride is in a 10-12 person small, open, wooden boat. Try to sit in the back by the outboard motor because that’s where the captain/tour guide will be and it’s difficult to hear him if you’re up front. Also, you tend to get a bit of a splash up front on certain parts of the lake even when it’s pretty calm. The views are breathtaking! They will point out animals hiding along the shores and hillsides, which I had trouble seeing. I was jealous of the guy who thought to bring small binoculars - pro move there! The tour operator does NOT rent bikes BUT you can rent them in town and the boat operator will load your bikes on another boat which will follow behind you on a 15-20 minute lag, giving you enough time to disembark your boat at Lord Brandon’s cottage, use the bathroom and grab a small bite to eat.

The best day of our holiday. Patrick was our guide and he was really great fun and very informative about the history, flora and fauna around the lakes. He was also a superb boatman, guiding the boat through tiny gaps where, because of the dry summer, there was little water. A really lovely day on all three lakes.

A must-do! Great time, small group... the captain took the time to tell us stories.

It Was canceled wait for my money back!!! I lost my vacation time the activity was canceled, I'm just waiting for my money back, nothing more.

Nice trip on the lakes with a very relaxed skipper. Maximum 12 passengers, also fine. Due to a misunderstanding missed the bus back but we got the already paid ticket back without murmuring. The office/pub on High Street is a sight in itself.

Make sure to rent a bike prior to the boat if you’d like to cycle the Gap. I walked the Gap and it was fantastic! Always bring rain gear, wear very comfortable shoes.

Our boat guide was funny and had lots of great information about the area. He was helpful with our bikes getting them on and off the boat. Great experience!

Beautiful boat ride up to the top of the lakes. Our guide was friendly and informative. We rented bikes and rode the gap and back to Killarney and the scenery was breath-taking. Definitely a must-do for anyone in Killarney!
