Somewhat long van ride but worth the wait! Ana was a fantastic guide! Very informative and friendly! I’ve never seen anything quite like Rio Secreto!

Two families (children are 18, 16, 11 and 9) had a wonderful day with our guide Imelda: She was so knowledgeable and respectful of the cave system, and the Mayan history and culture. It was a truly moving experience to be somewhere that felt so untouched by humanity, We even got to see a blind cavefish!

It was so fun the caves were amazing and everyone that worked was so helpful. From the driver and photographer to the guide and driver everyone was incredible helpful. For what you get the fee is so fair and the visit is very long. So much to see and it’s incredible the whole atmosphere is great and our group was just my eight family members. There weren’t tons of people anywhere and no one in the cave with us.

TLDR: Do Rio Secreto its amazing. Dont bother with Tulum. Me and my wife booked to do the Tulum and the Rio Secreto package. On the Itenary it says Tulum first then Rio Secreto. This is not set in stone and we did them the opposite way round. We absolutely loved Rio Secreto, it was an amazing experience and at no point did we ever not feel safe and we found out so many things about one of the coolest parts of Nature. They provide you wife life jackets, helmets and wet suits with towels. No photography is allowed at Rio Secreto which is a shame but it is done to seel you their photos. We didnt like them so we didnt bother. Our guide Aaron was lovely and friendly. After the Secreto we had some lunch, this was ok for what it was, a few pasta options with meat, rice, veg. It was all decent enough. We then went to Tulum after lunch. If im being completely honest, I would suggest not bothering with Tulum, there are a few ruins to look at, you cannot go in them or on them so you admire them from afar. Because we did it second as well, it was at the peak heat of the day and as you are not allowed to take plastic into the ruins it made walking around in the heat with no water difficult. We messaged the guide the day of to ask if there was anything we needed, they suggested water shoes and that was it really. My advice: Water Shoes Money for a tip for the driver An insulated water bottle because you can take those into Tulum A change of clothes if you are doing both.

Tour was incredible. Unfortunately, the driver was at the wrong hotel... not sure why not effort to contact me was made. I purchased an out of pocket cab (about 100 USD) and was later told it would be refunded... 2 weeks later, nothing.

Highly recommended! This trip starts with Rio Secreto and then Tulum, not the other way around as shown in the itinerary.

Rio Secreto was fascinating, and these memories will last forever. The cost includes transport from the hotel, all equipment, lunch, and the same tour guide for the river as well as the Tulum ruins. The group was just the right size so that everyone could stay together and ride in the same vehicle. Our guide was terrific and knew the best spots. It made for a long day, but it was worth it. Tulum was hot but we had umbrellas to help with the sun. You can't walk on the ruins anymore, but we didn't want to take the longer trip into the jungle for that activity. The views were amazing so close to the Caribbean, and it was so interesting to see creations from that long ago. Definitely would recommend.

Jorge is a fantastic guide! The caverns are amazing! If it’s your only trip to the area Tulum is good but hot in June! Rio Secreto is “refreshing” but many in our group were cold! This was my favorite excursion

Wonderful experience in the Rio Secreto. Everything was well thought out for a great experience. Hector our guide was super nice and made sure he took care of the group for all to have a good time.

This was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done! Our guide Diana was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and easy to understand. I can’t wait to come back.
