ビリニュスからの終日の十字路ツアー

It’s quite a long journey from Vilinus to the Hill of Crosses. However it’s definitely worth the effort to go. We were expecting a 9 hour excursion - However we was back in 8 hours - we felt that we hadn’t had enough time at either of the stops. We would have liked to have gone to the visitors centre at the hill of crosses.

We did not get the full tour as described but the Hill of Crosses is worth visiting. There was a lot of confusion and back and forth emails and whatsapp messages as I received several confirmation messages but with differing start times. Despite the tour supposedly having hotel pickup I had to walk to a city busstop to get picked up and the guide explained that he had to change the timing and we had to be back in the city by 4pm so he could attend to a private matter. We spent a lot of time at the first stop walking through a muddy forest (would have been good to be told this do i could have worn more suitable shoes), then when we got to the Hill of Crosses the guide directed us to the entrance and told us he would be waiting in a carpark on the other side and we had about 45 minutes to visit even though the website said an hour. We had no guide, some explanation on the drive to the site but I had expected this to be guided. The next stop was supposed to be 3 hours in the Town Hall (Rotuse) including a stop for lunch but instead we drove to a roadside restaurant and had to hurriedly order a meal and eat quickly before heading back to the city. There was no stop at the town hall and i had researched and been expecting to go walking to find the statues and other sites mentioned on the tour. We then drove at great speed to get back to the city and hurriedly let out of the car again at a busstop and not our hotel. For this reason I did not receive all that i had paid for and expect a partial refund.

Good your to see Hill of Crosses, stopping off at Partisans Park. Lunch stop on the way back. Was only person on the tour.

It was 3 hours from Vilnuis-- well worth it. Our driver went into the history and shared personal stories. The hill of crosses can't be described in words-- you have to be there.

Our guide was very informative, and knowledgeable about Lithuania, Vilnius, and the Hill of Crosses. She made a few stops on the way, answered many questions, and allowed over an hour to explore the two areas with historical crosses, and crosses as memorials. The only negative was the vehicle was too small for four tall men. We had a great stop for Lithuanian lunch after the crosses.

Our driver and tour operator, Andrus, delivered all the elements of the tour as advertised. It is to our loss that we failed to connect with him beyond his prepared commentary. When we went with his coworker, Jurate on the City Tour the following day it we had delightful interchange with her and a wonderful day.

I missed a message the tour was canceled because not enough people signed up and arrived at the meeting spot. The tour operator was gracious enough to arrange a private tour for me (additional cost) with Jūratė, who was an absolute gem. She explained Lithuania’s history, helped me pronounce words, and even assisted me in looking up where my grandparents lived in Lithuania. Before arriving, we stopped at the souvenir shop and I bought a cross to place on the hill of crosses in honor of my grandmother and grandfather, which was very emotional. After the tour, Jūratė took me to a traditional Lithuanian restaurant for lunch where she explained the various dishes and traditions. I can’t thank them enough for making this tour still happen for me.
