We had a very enriching experience visiting the Abu Simbel temple. Our driver George picked us up from the cruise ship right on time and drove us to the Aswan airport. Islam picked us up from the Abu Simbel airport and drove us to the temple. Both drivers were very punctual and polite. Islam waited with us till our guide Ahmed came to meet us. Our guide gave us a very good overview of the temple with pictures so we would get an idea of what we would see inside. Since guides are not allowed inside this was the next best choice. He put the whole explanation in the context of the life and times of Rameses the 2nd, so it was easy for us to understand. We also enjoyed his explanation of how the whole temple was moved from its original site. All in all it was very efficiently done, and it was one of our best temple visit in our time in Egypt.
