We had a fabulous time on our tour of the Tijuca Rainforest. Our guide, Fabio, was exceptional not only for his knowledge of the rainforest, the birds, sighting a sloth for us, alerting us to the presence of multiple kinds of monkeys but also in sharing his personal experiences in owning lands where he, himself, is reforesting the land. Truly amazing to hear all that has been done to create this forest from a coffee field through the years and have so many diverse species of plants, trees, birds and animals. I highly recommend Fabio as a guide and Itaway Ecotours for their perfect execution of the tour. Obigada!!

We went hiking while it was raining and foggy but I never felt afraid because of our AMAZING guide. He stopped in every spot that might be difficult for beginner hikers and helped us all navigate the trail safely. Our guide was Victor and if I ever have another chance to take a tour with him I’d love it because he was knowledgeable not only about how to hike safely but the history of the rainforest too. Bonus was that he spoke English and a variety of other languages too!

The tour lived up to my expectations. A big shoutout to our driver and also the guide Thalles for helping us spot some wildlife. Thalles also had some great recommendations on the nightlife as well as the best açai in town. We got plenty of time to bathe in the waterfall and enjoy the urban jungle.

The jungle tour was a great experience. The hike was a good challenge, the waterfall, and views were spectacular. We saw a sloth and a hawk ad well. Our tour guide Lucas was passionate and very knowledgeable about the jungle ecosystem and history. I recommend this experience to anyone visiting Brazil!

We really enjoyed trekking through the Tijuca Forest with Eric! He provided interesting, detailed responses to all of our questions as he highlighted the flora and fauna. The Bat Cave was amazing as well as the opportunities to see monkeys, toucans, spiders and a sloth! It was hard to believe we were adjacent to a city as large as Rio. Highly recommend!

It was very nice hike but there was an areas where you need to be physically active to be able to do it . If you’re older than 65 years old and not physically active then it is not recommended. Also, if you want to take this hike, do it in the morning so that you will be able to see see some animals.

Just to clarify, our tour page states that the experience is suitable for adults aged 13–60, and that travelers should have a moderate level of physical fitness. As everyone’s fitness level is different, the difficulty of the hike can vary from person to person. Regarding wildlife, the animals roam freely in the forest, so sightings are never guaranteed. They choose when to make an appearance, regardless of the time of day. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you again!
