This was an excellent tour! Navaz, our guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly! We were a group of 4 adults and Navaz was very accommodating. We especially appreciated being able to take our time in each stop and never felt rushed. Navaz made a lunch reservation for us right across from the beach. He also offered to take us to Fatima even though it was not on this particular tour and not far from Nazare. We took him up on his offer and it was a fantastic day! Thank you again, Navaz!

A wonderful day!
Our tour to Obidos and Nazaré was made very special because of our amazing guide, John! He has so much knowledge about the history of Lisbon, Obidos, and Nazaré and communicates extremely well. He is passionate about what he does and you can tell it is important to him that everyone in his tour group has the best experience possible. The van was immaculate and comfortable, with free water and wifi provided. Obidos is a charming town with beautiful flowers, cute shops, and friendly people. Nazaré is a coastal laid back town we also loved, Most visitors to the lighthouse have to walk a distance but with this tour John has permission to drive his passengers to the door, well appreciated!We had a delicious lunch in town that John reserved for us.

Obedos and Nazera day trip
We had a great day with our guide Nevez who took us every where with ease and was very informative. He organised a lovely lunch at Nazare. Unfortunately the weather was very hazy so difficult to see the waves but very interesting.

A Wonderful Day in Óbidos and Nazaré with an Excellent Guide
I booked a half-day small-group tour from Lisbon to Óbidos and Nazaré. The tour was advertised as a small group with a maximum of eight people. I admittedly assumed that meant we would be traveling in a small passenger van, although that was not explicitly stated in the description.
The evening before our tour, our guide, Navaz, contacted me via WhatsApp to confirm our pickup location and provide a description of the vehicle. The meeting point was centrally located and very easy to find, and Navaz arrived a few minutes early.
There were four guests in total—two couples who did not know one another—and the vehicle was a very clean passenger car. We offered the front seat to the husband of the other couple because of his height, which left the other three of us squeezed into the back seat. I ended up in the middle, sitting over the hump. It wasn't particularly comfortable for the amount of driving involved.
I want to be very clear that this was not Navaz's fault. The group was assigned to him through the booking, and he did everything he could to make our day enjoyable. I mention the vehicle only so that others booking a “small-group” tour know what they may encounter.
Navaz was an excellent guide—friendly, kind, informative, and knowledgeable. At each destination, he gave us helpful information and made sure we felt we had enough time to explore on our own. We never felt rushed.
Our first stop was Óbidos, and it was absolutely beautiful and charming. We arrived well before the large tour buses, so for a while it felt as though we had the village almost to ourselves. Wandering the cobblestone streets among the whitewashed houses was a feast for the eyes. There were local artisans selling handcrafted items, musicians performing, and plenty of little cafés and shops to explore. We easily could have spent several hours simply wandering.
From there, we continued to Nazaré. One of the things we especially wanted to see was the lighthouse and the beach famous for its enormous surfing waves. While there were no 100-foot waves during our visit—it wasn't the season—the scenery certainly did not disappoint.
We were originally supposed to begin our return journey after Nazaré, but earlier in the day Navaz had asked whether we might like to extend our visit and have lunch at a local seafood restaurant down by the beach. We happily agreed, and he made a reservation for us. It was a genuinely local experience rather than a tourist-trap restaurant and was a wonderful addition to the day.
Overall, this was a great day. Óbidos and Nazaré were both well worth visiting, and getting to Óbidos early enough to enjoy it before the crowds was especially memorable. Most importantly, Navaz was terrific and made the experience even better.
My only suggestion to the tour operator would be to provide more information about the type of vehicle that will be used. A maximum group size of eight led me to expect a passenger van, and three adults across the back seat of a car was quite cramped. That aside, the itinerary was exactly as advertised, and Navaz provided us with a wonderful day.

Great Sites, But Tour Went Overtime (by a lot)
Both sites were worth the trip- beauty, nature, local charm, and history. Joao provided great information and had a gentle confidence about him. It was refreshing. That said, we chose this tour b/c it was 6 hours, not 8 like similar ones. We got back over 2 hours late, just after 5 instead of the 2:30 pm that was advertised. The atop times just didn't pencil out, regardless of a couple late peoplw when leaving sites. We were okay with our later plans but others were stressed with being late for PM plans.

Obidos and Nazare tour

Everything Was Perfect Except the Pickup/Drop-Off
We had a wonderful private excursion to Óbidos and Nazaré, and overall everything was excellent. Our driver and guide, Navaz, was very nice, helpful, accommodating, and a pleasure to spend the day with. He made sure we had plenty of time to explore both places on our own and never made us feel rushed. He was attentive to our needs and helped make the day very enjoyable. The small souvenir he gave us at the end was also a very thoughtful touch.
Our only disappointment was with the transportation arrangement. Since Viator had changed this excursion to a private tour, and we were the only couple on the tour, we were surprised that we were not picked up and dropped off at our hotel. Instead, we had to take a taxi to and from the designated meeting point. This was an unnecessary inconvenience, particularly for a private tour.
We have absolutely no complaint about Navaz—he was excellent and we would happily recommend him. Our comment about the pickup and drop-off is solely about the way the private tour was organized.
Overall, we had a fantastic day and thoroughly enjoyed Óbidos and Nazaré.
