The tour was outstanding. Learned a lot about the village, geysers, Maori culture and traditions. We even got to see the Indicator geyser Te Tohu erupt. Unable to see Pohutu go as we were already almost past closing time and had to leave. To our tour guide Wai, thank you for the experience!

We booked the day pass for Whakarewaarewa because we wanted to learn about the indigenous Maori culture during our trip to New Zealand. The residents have a long history as guides for tourists, which they are very proud of. As a visitor, one can also notice this, as the tours are conducted with great passion and a high level of professionalism. For me, it was one of the best guided tours of my life. The guides manage to engage visitors with the history and traditions. I can also highly recommend the additional "Cultural Performance" that can be booked.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Lukas! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the guided tour and found it both captivating and professional. It's wonderful to know you appreciated the cultural performance as well. Your kind words mean a lot to our team!
Whakarewarewa offers an incredible, authentic glimpse into a living culture. Walking through the active geothermal landscape, seeing how the community utilizes the natural steam, and viewing the impressive geysers was truly fascinating. The highlight, however, was the incredible hospitality. When the guy getting the sweet corn cooked fresh in the geothermal waters found out we were from Fiji, he immediately welcomed us with a warm and genuine "Bula Vinaka!" It made us feel instantly connected. Stunning geothermal wonders, rich history, and deeply personal, welcoming interactions make this an absolute must-visit in Rotorua.
Thank you for your wonderful review, Viraj! We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed the authentic experience and hospitality. It's always special when visitors feel a personal connection. We appreciate you highlighting the geothermal wonders and our community's culture. Your feedback truly means a lot to us!
The guided tour of the Whakarewarewa Maori Village and the live cultural performance were exceptional. John was our guide through the village. He did a wonderful job of describing Maori cooking, bathing, spiritual, and ecosmart practices. You felt his passion for the Maori way of life. We even sampled corn that was cooked the Maori way. The live cultural performance is also something not to miss! Maori men and women performed in traditional costumes, as they portrayed their emotions through song and movement. They held the full attention of the audience! The grounds, gift shop, restaurant and rest rooms were immaculate. There was ample room for parking at the site.

We had a great experience at the Māori village. Our guide, Daniel, was friendly, warm, and very knowledgeable. During the one-hour tour, he made us feel very comfortable. We learned well about Māori culture and traditions from him. We also enjoyed a peaceful walk along the beautiful thermal trail, which added to the overall experience.
Me and my 4 kids attended this morning our guide was Manawa and she was absolutely fantastic, amazing good knowledge, to top off we were treated with a kapa haka performance and that was also amazing. Highly recommend Whakarewarewa and all it has to offer, thank you for the experience.
