The meal was delicious

The meal was delicious, fascinating to watch and talk with the chef and his mother as they prepared the Kappo dinner. Wonderful small, family owned restaurant tucked away in the alleys of Gion. Unfortunately, our tour guide was not good. He was friendly, spoke excellent English and was a good translator. But, it appeared that he did not know the history of Gion or could provide much information about the neighborhood/community. We had to ask many questions to get him to tell us about it. Very dissappointed. Very expensive for a poor tour.

Operator response

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly pleased to hear that you enjoyed the Kappo dinner and the warm hospitality of the chef and his mother. We are proud to work with this small, family-run restaurant, and it means a lot to us that you found the experience memorable. At the same time, we are sincerely sorry to hear that the guiding portion of the tour did not meet your expectations. While our guide was friendly and communicative, we understand your disappointment regarding the lack of historical and cultural depth during the walking tour in Gion. Your feedback has been shared with the guide and our team, and we will make sure to strengthen our training so that our guides are better prepared to provide a more informative and engaging experience. We truly value your input and will use it to improve our service. Thank you again for joining the tour, and we hope we will have the opportunity to provide you with a better experience in the future.
