I booked this trip for a female friend, and she had been assigned a male driver/guide. The experience was very unprofessional and I highlighted the issues to the tour operator through a formal complaint. 24 hours later I still haven't received a reply. Here are the issues experienced with the guide by my friend: 1. Arrived more than 20 minutes late and lied about having been there earlier and waiting for a call from my friend. She actually saw him driving up to the hotel late, and had texted him several times before the pick up time without any response. 2. He asked her to take a photo with him. 3. He asked her to pay for his breakfast, lunch and drinks. 4. He kept going on about his expectations for a big tip. 5. At each destination, he dropped my friend off and left her to her own devices to explore each attraction while he would wait in the car. Most places he would only allow 10 minutes. 6. He cut the tour short by taking off two destinations from the schedule (mosque and garden) because there was supposedly no time - but then proceeded to drop my friend back to the hotel at 2.30pm - after only 5 hours vs the 8 hour tour indicated through Viator. 7. He asked my friend to complete a Tripadvisor review. When she said she would leave that to me to do, he took her phone and wrote his own review. If the tour operator had addressed my complaint I would have provided a more forgiving review; alas, they didn't, so in my mind this was not an isolated incident but a systemic issue. First time that I had a bad experience through Viator - I hope they monitor bad reviews and act upon them.
Sathia was an excellent and knowledgeable guide who showed us around Kuala Lumpur for the day. We climbed up the steps of the Batu Caves and went up the Petronas Towers but Sathia made sure we saw so many other things as well. By the end of the day we had photos also of the railway building, national mosque, parliament building, national war monument, Chinatown, the Royal Palace and a Chinese temple and also had seen batik painting. If you want to see Kuala Lumpur this is the tour to do!
An incredible Tour around some of Kuala Lumpur most famous places!! great air-conditioning vehicle and Amazing tour Guide with Sathia! She spoke excellent English and was so knowledgeable! A wonderful experience
Ayyanar was an amazing tour guide. Very friendly and respectful. He shared a lot of the history of the Malaysian culture with us. We certainly will request his services next time. Thank you Ayyanar you’re awesome.
Great fun! Everything went well. Our tour guide Sathesh was friendly, informative, and proactive throughout the whole trip, in addition to being flexible and cool.
This was a great tour. Nish was a warm, friendly and knowledgeable guide. He was also a great photographer and took many of the best photographs of us during our time in Malaysia! It covered all the key sites really efficiently. Highly recommended.
Great tour highlighting the city. Nathan was a fabulous guide sharing about the local customs and history.
Our guide ‘Nesh’ contacted me on WhatsApp to confirm when he would arrive at the hotel and what he would be driving. He then drove us to Batu Cave first, so it would be cooler and we would have fresh legs for the climb. He took us to so many great spots, that I felt we had seen most of the “can’t miss” highlights of KL. There was always a plan for how we would visit each spot. He had already booked our tickets (included in the price) to the Petronas Towers, so we didn’t have to do anything but enjoy. Nesh explained so many things about the city and culture that we have a new appreciation for Malaysia. Bottled water and the air conditioned vehicle made the heat of KL bearable for such an active day. One last thing, having a private guide is so much better than doing a big group tour. We felt like we saw twice as much as we would have. The price is a bargain for how much we got to experience.
Ayyanar was the reason we learned so much about Malaysia. You can tell he is passionate about his country which is very heart warming. Definitely book with Ayyanar !
The title of the trip doesn’t do it justice! Yes I did the caves and the towers but visited about 10 more locations. My driver and guide Sathesh was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. He asked what I was interested in and offered so many different options based on that. As a solo female traveler I felt very safe with Sathesh . The palace, war memorial, batek demonstration , temples for all faiths and of course the caves were amazing. Getting to the caves early was a huge bonus as it was cool , clean and almost empty so I could really experience the temples. Great trip and great guide who made the day fun and educational
