GEAR – Kyoto's Longest-Running Non-Verbal Theater Experience

Description
When Kyoto's summer heat or rainy season makes sightseeing uncomfortable, GEAR offers the perfect indoor escape. Cool, comfortable, and completely captivating. Most temples and shrines close by evening — GEAR is one of the few attractions open after dark, perfect for families and all ages. Now in its 14th year with 350,000+ visitors, this 90-minute non-verbal show combines world-class break dance, mime, juggling, and magic. Zero Japanese required. The cast includes a world championship break dancer, a mime artist who won gold at the world tournament, a juggler with Japanese records, and a magician featured across major media — all performing in an intimate 72-seat theater. Brought to life with projection mapping and color-changing LED costumes. A visual spectacle found nowhere else in Kyoto. No language. No barriers. Just pure emotion — rain or shine.

The performances were great. All of the actors were really talented. Loved the audience interaction. Definitely worth the time to see /experience while visiting Kyoto.
Tell folks that it’s a very family oriented show for children over 6 years old and definitely for teenagers and adults! Robot characters are great as well!! Interactive performance was great too! Definitely would recommend this to everyone, without a doubt!!!!
this is a very unique show, and if time allows is a nice addition to an itinerary. the cast is talented, and it was very enjoyable. it isn't a must do, but it certainly provided excellent entertainment value! you will not do anything like it elsewhere.
Love it! The lighting, sound, and choreography were all outstanding. Everything felt perfectly executed, and you could really see the care and attention put into every movement of the play. The actors must have worked incredibly hard to deliver such a beautiful performance.
It's amazing. The entire world that they create is fun and different. All the actors are extremely talented
What an amazing show!! Such talent - we loved every minute from the second it started! We were taken on an imaginative journey. I went with my teen daughter and we both loved it. Congratulations to the performers for putting on an amazing show! It is on the 3rd floor of a narrow building with a few flights of stairs to get up. A fantastic theatre space!
Fantastic show. It surpassed my expectations. The cast was extremely talented. Well done. I highly recommend it.
Do not miss this show if you go to Kyoto. A wonderful experience.
The family enjoyed this show a lot - its non-verbal so for an international audience. It involves mime, magic, juggling, breakdancing against a backdrop of a robot-themed tale. Its a small, intimate theatre so no bad seats. Note that the front three rows have more interaction with the show, which explains the higher pricing.
This was the most amazing performance we have ever seen! We experienced such a range of emotions and learned many life lessons. We absolutely loved this production!
