Galle fort was built first in 1588 by the Portuguese, then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century from 1649 onwards. It is a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage monument, it was named as a world heritage by UNESCO in 1988.
It'sa home to disabled turtles and baby turtles, here you can see 4 types of turtles ,
Unawatuna is a coastal town in Galle district of Sri Lanka. Unawatuna is a major tourist attraction in Sri Lanka and known for its beach and corals. Unawatuna is one of the best places for snorkeling and diving
A 50m-high seated Buddha figure – the largest in Sri Lanka – is a highlight of this somewhat gaudy temple, which is often thronged with worshippers. Before reaching the Buddha you pass through a hall of horrors full of life-sized models of demons and sinners. The punishments depicted include being dunked in boiling cauldrons, sawn in half and disembowelled.
Coconut Tree Hill is a beautiful hill perched into the Indian Ocean lined with sky high palm trees overlooking the Mirissa bay. Presumably one of the more well-known hotspots of Mirissa, locals and tourists alike flock to this gorgeous hill to catch a sunrise, or sunset, all while staring out into the vast ocean before it.
This exquisite tea plantation in the hills above Koggala offers (free) highly informative tours of the estate. You'll sample and learn how they produce over 25 varieties of tea here, including the fabled Virgin White tea, a delicate brew made from the tiniest and newest leaves. Where the average large plantation worker will pick 23kg of black tea in a day, the workers here manage but 150 grams of virgin white leaves

We had a fantastic day and our guide was amazing. Full of fantastic information and we felt he went out of his way to add more to the trip. We really enjoyed ourselves
The best day trip you could have in south Sri Lanka .shehan is so smart and friendly guy who knows the area very well. He even stopped few places interesting which was not even on the plan. Like stilt fisherman and dondra lighthouse. All over it was an amazing experience, we highly recommend Shehan as a Exceptional tour guide.!
Fort is worth a visit for the history and architecture . A few coffee shops - coffee is average only . But the walk around is interesting
Hi Simon I haven't done a trip to a galle fort with you, I think you were mistaken with a review. you can just place this review to Galle fort in TripAdvisor. I hope you will have some time to place it to right place. Thank you so much.

We loved this trip , we saw so much and our guide spoke good English . Think he thought he had two mad English people for the day . Excellent value for money
This would be a great tour. Our third trip with Shehan and as always everything went great! We visited a lot of great places. Advice - order traditional Sri Lankan dishes at a restaurant in Galle, but make sure they are not spicy (it will be anyway).
Meeting the owner of the tea plantation and seeing the rescued turtles were amazing. Had a really great day.
