Itinerary
Fotografiska, the Contemporary Museum of Photography, Art & Culture, is the global destination for photography and visual storytelling. Housed in a historic customs house and opened in 2010, Fotografiska quickly became a cornerstone of Stockholm’s cultural scene and has since expanded to Berlin, Shanghai, and Tallinn. Across several floors, Fotografiska showcases the work of both renowned and emerging artists, exploring photography and visual art in all its forms—from classic prints to digital media and multidisciplinary installations. The museum features exhibitions that change almost every month and a dynamic events programme. On the top floor, Fotografiska’s award-winning bistro and restaurant offer seasonal, locally sourced dishes with some of the city’s best views. On the ground floor, a curated museum store offers posters, books, gifts, and design objects inspired by current and past exhibitions. Tickets valid for anytime during opening hours (10am-11pm) on the date booked.

"Fotografiska Stockholm" is one of the world's leading museums for contemporary photography. It is located in a historic former customs house built in the Art Nouveau style right by the water in the Södermalm district. The exhibition "Short & Sweet" currently showcases the work of Martin Parr, who passed away in 2025. It features humorous everyday moments and sharp social satire from the legendary British Magnum photographer. On the ground floor of the museum, vegetables are grown that are used in the award-winning restaurant.
Thank you so much for coming to Fotografiska Stockholm. We are so glad that you enjoyed the exhibitions. Warm welcome back!
DONT GO, AI 'ART' EXHEBITIONS!!! Please be aware of so called ai 'art' that you will be paying for and thus supporting. The actual art was incredible, though.
Hi Tjarlie! Thank you for your feedback both here and on Google. The exhibition shows how eight different artists work with AI and features both voices that critically examine the technology and those that use it as a creative partner. We are glad that you enjoyed the other exhibitions.
I must clarify that I am not a professional photographer or an art expert, but I really did not understand the meaning of the collection of displayed items. Additionally, there was an ongoing exhibition with a private party, so it was only possible to visit one floor out of two.
Hello, we’d first like to thank you for visiting us. We currently have six different exhibitions, and we’re sorry that none of them were to your liking. Sometimes we hold events that require us to close the exhibitions for a few hours, when this happens, we’ll post a notice on our website and inform you at the front desk. We hope you’ll find an exhibition you like better on your next visit. Warm welcome back!
Amazing, must see, and the restaurant upstairs is like a cherry in a cake
Hi Inga, thank you so much! We are thankful hat you visited us and you are warm welcome back.
Fabulous museum of photos, paintings, sculptures. I've taken it in my eyes. I would have stayed in it so beautiful to visit.
The museum is not that easy to do. But it really deserves a visit. The three exhibitions I saw there were absolutely remarkable. Beautifully presented.
The special exhibit is from Elliot Erwitt and if you can catch it - please do! Marvelous photos that span countries and generations. I give this exhibit 5 stars - the other photographers were less my thing, but worth a visit in any event. End you visit with a coffee and cinnamon bun on the 4th floor where there's a lovely view!
This was a very nice surprise. Elliott Erwitt's photos were particularly fun and impressive. Finish with a coffee with nice views on the top floor.
There are always good exhibitions here. This time both famous established photographers and young unknowns. Exciting, beautiful and sometimes thought-provoking. To be able to walk around with a glass of bubbly on Sunday feels luxurious and international. Lunch with a view of Stockholm and the bay is always the icing on the cake.
Affordable admission fee and not too crowded, in January at least. Wonderful date night activity.
